HR Director

Location: Schaumburg, IL (Hybrid: 3 days in office)

Base : $150-200K up to negotiable

Employment Type: Full-Time, Exempt

About the Role

We are seeking a dynamic HR Director to build and lead the HR function for a rapidly growing U.S. operation in the healthcare and life sciences sector. This is a unique opportunity to shape HR operations from the ground up, partnering closely with senior leadership to establish policies, systems, and processes that support long-term organizational growth.

Key Responsibilities

HR Strategy & Compliance

  • Establish, implement, and oversee HR operations, policies, and compliance.
  • Ensure adherence to U.S. labor laws and international regulations.
  • Provide guidance on employee relations, including performance management and conflict resolution.

Talent Acquisition & Onboarding

  • Design and execute recruitment strategies to attract top talent.
  • Lead the full cycle of hiring, onboarding, and integration.
  • Drive workforce planning in alignment with business objectives.

Training & Development

  • Create and implement training programs to support professional growth.
  • Foster a culture of continuous learning and performance improvement.

Compensation, Benefits & Payroll

  • Manage compensation and benefits to ensure competitiveness and employee satisfaction.
  • Oversee payroll operations with accuracy and compliance.
  • Provide specialized support for expatriates, including payroll and benefit coordination.

Expatriate & Assignment Support

  • Assist with relocation logistics, housing, and assignment integration.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for expatriate employees throughout their assignment.

HR Systems & Administration

  • Administer HRIS platforms (ADP) and related systems.
  • Maintain accurate HR data and employee records.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 10+ years of progressive HR leadership experience across multiple HR functions.
  • Professional certification (SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, or equivalent) strongly preferred.
  • Strong communication, relationship-building, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency with HRIS systems (ADP) and Microsoft Office Suite.

Preferred:

  • Experience in the pharmaceutical or life sciences industry.
  • Knowledge of Japanese business practices and multicultural work environments.
  • Track record of establishing or scaling HR functions in startup/growth phases.
