Our Test Systems Engineering team in Military Aircraft Group is looking for a Senior Systems Engineer to join them. This hybrid role reports to the Systems Engineering Section Head in East Aurora, NY.
We are seeking a Senior Systems Engineer to lead the development of advanced test systems that ensure the performance and reliability of our cutting-edge products. This role offers the opportunity to guide a multi-disciplinary engineering team through the full lifecycle of test system development from requirements capture to final verification.
As a Senior Systems Engineer, you will:
- Translate customer needs into comprehensive test system specifications, ensuring alignment with product verification goals.
- Perform architecture analysis, design trade studies, and develop Interface Control Documents (ICDs) to define system boundaries and interactions.
- Convert use cases into actionable hardware and software requirements for implementation.
- Develop integration checklists, verification plans, and calibration procedures to ensure system readiness and compliance.
- Create detailed documentation including signal maps, system interconnects, and analysis reports to support design traceability and future maintenance.
- Oversee integration and test activities, troubleshoot anomalies, and validate system performance through modeling and analysis.
- Verify that test systems meet all performance, safety, and regulatory requirements.
- Serve as a technical liaison between customers and internal teams, ensuring clear communication and alignment throughout the project lifecycle.
- Contribute to technical volumes and cost estimates for new business opportunities.
- Work within a team of creative, independent engineers committed to solving complex challenges with precision and ingenuity.
To be considered for this role, you typically will bring:
- A Bachelor of Science degree in Aerospace, Electrical, Mechanical, Software, or Systems Engineering; a Master of Science degree is preferred.
- At least 8 years of engineering experience, including 4+ years leading multi-disciplinary engineering teams, with a proven record of success.
- Demonstrated expertise in test equipment requirements development, design, modeling, analysis, integration, and verification.
It would be great if you also had experience in:
- Specification, design, integration, and verification of test equipment
- Real-time systems such as dSPACE or National Instruments
- Modeling and simulation tools including MATLAB/Simulink/Simscape or Amesim
- Electro-hydraulic or electro-mechanical servo-mechanisms
- Closed-loop control systems and control theory
- Requirements management using IBM Rational DOORS
- Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) and SysML

Salary Range Transparency
Buffalo, NY $120,000.00–$145,000.00 Annually
