LightFeather is seeking a
GitLab Platform Engineer to design, implement, and optimize a secure, scalable GitLab platform supporting federal government missions. This role requires strong expertise in GitLab administration, CI/CD pipeline development, automation, DevSecOps practices, and compliance with federal security frameworks. The ideal candidate will ensure seamless integration of GitLab with enterprise systems while enabling secure, efficient software delivery for mission-critical government operations.

Key Responsibilities
- Deploy, configure, and maintain GitLab environments to ensure availability, scalability, and security.
- Design, implement, and optimize CI/CD pipelines in GitLab to support automated build, test, and deployment processes.
- Develop automated workflows for code scanning, compliance checks, and deployment pipelines that embed security best practices.
- Support GitLab platform infrastructure using Terraform, Ansible, and Kubernetes to enable reproducible, consistent environments.
- Implement and enforce GitLab security configurations, access controls, and SAST/DAST scanning in alignment with FedRAMP, NIST, and RMF standards.
- Integrate GitLab with third-party tools such as Jira, Confluence, SonarQube, and Artifactory, along with government-approved DevSecOps toolchains.
- Monitor and optimize GitLab performance using tools like Prometheus, Grafana, and the ELK stack to ensure reliability and efficiency.
- Collaborate with developers, security teams, and government stakeholders to align GitLab solutions with mission and compliance objectives.
- Implement backup, disaster recovery, and high-availability strategies to support continuous operations of GitLab platforms.
- Provide mentorship and guidance to engineering teams on GitLab best practices, DevSecOps workflows, and secure software delivery models.
Required Qualifications And Skills
- U.S. Citizenship.
- Active Secret or higher clearance.
- Minimum 5+ years of experience in DevOps, platform engineering, or CI/CD pipeline management with a strong focus on GitLab.
- Hands-on expertise with GitLab administration, GitLab Runners, and GitLab CI/CD pipelines.
- Strong proficiency with automation and IaC tools such as Terraform, Ansible, Helm, and Kubernetes.
- Experience implementing DevSecOps practices including SAST, DAST, dependency scanning, and automated compliance workflows.
- Knowledge of federal security and compliance frameworks (FedRAMP, NIST, RMF, Zero Trust).
- Scripting and automation experience with Python, Bash, or PowerShell.
Preferred
- Experience supporting federal agencies or DoD DevSecOps modernization projects.
- Familiarity with container orchestration (Kubernetes, OpenShift) and cloud environments (AWS, Azure, GCP).
- Experience with artifact repositories (Nexus, Artifactory), monitoring platforms (Prometheus, Grafana), and logging solutions (ELK/EFK).
- Knowledge of software supply chain security and SBOM (Software Bill of Materials) best practices.
