Our Test Systems Engineering team in Military Aircraft Group is seeking a Mechanical Engineering Supervisor to lead a talented team of 6 - 8 engineers focused on designing and integrating electromechanical and electro-hydraulic test equipment for flight control systems used in military aircraft. You will report to the Site Test Systems Engineering Manager and will have a hybrid 9/80 work schedule in Torrance, CA.

This is a hands-on leadership role where you’ll guide your team while also contributing directly to engineering projects. You’ll report to a Test Systems Manager and work in a collaborative environment that values innovation, technical excellence, and continuous improvement.

As a Mechanical Engineering Supervisor, You Will

  • Lead and mentor a team of mechanical engineers developing test equipment for military aircraft programs.
  • Provide technical guidance, training, and support to help your team grow and meet global engineering standards.
  • Collaborate with Test Equipment Site Managers to assign resources and ensure successful project execution.
  • Drive process compliance and contribute to process improvements that enhance efficiency and quality.
  • Conduct performance reviews, support workforce planning, and assist with hiring efforts.
  • Contribute as an individual engineer on projects (50–75% of your time), applying your technical expertise to design and develop mechanical and hydraulic test systems.

To be considered for this role, here’s what you’ll typically bring:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering and at least 6 years of experience in mechanical engineering.
  • Strong background in creating and reviewing engineering drawings, schematics, and technical documentation.
  • Experience leading or managing engineering teams.
  • Willingness to travel occasionally (5–10%), including international engagements.
  • Proficiency in:
    • Mechanical and hydraulic test system development
    • Structural analysis and machine design
    • GD&T (ASME Y14.5)
    • CAD tools (NX) and PLM systems (Teamcenter)
It Would Be a Plus If You Had

  • Master’s degree in Engineering
  • Experience in aerospace or defense manufacturing
  • Proven leadership and mentoring skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills for working across teams and global projects
  • Familiarity with:
    • Closed-loop control systems
    • Requirements management
    • Matlab/Simulink
    • AMESIM modeling
    • Ansys

Salary Range Transparency

Torrance, CA $130,000.00–$170,000.00 Annually

Actual salaries will vary depending on factors including but not limited to location, experience, and performance. The range(s) listed is just one component of Moog's total compensation package for employees.
