About Thrubit

Thrubit is building the next generation of local-first developer tools for AWS Step Functions and serverless workflows. Our mission is to save teams time, money, and stress by letting them run, debug, and optimize their AWS workflows locally—without surprise cloud bills. If you’re excited about simplifying cloud complexity and empowering developers, we’d love to hear from you.

Role Overview

We’re looking for a Cloud Engineer who is passionate about serverless technologies, AWS infrastructure, and developer experience. In this role, you’ll help architect and optimize the core of our local-first AWS emulator, design scalable systems, and work closely with both the product and engineering teams to ensure Thrubit remains a developer’s favorite tool for building and testing in the cloud.

Responsibilities

  • Architect and maintain local AWS-compatible environments (Lambda, Step Functions, DynamoDB, S3, CloudFormation).
  • Develop tools and automation for local emulation, CI/CD, and deployment pipelines.
  • Collaborate with product and engineering teams to integrate cloud workflows into Thrubit’s desktop app.
  • Implement observability, logging, and monitoring solutions for local + hybrid execution environments.
  • Research and prototype new approaches to make serverless workflows faster, more reliable, and cost-efficient.
  • Contribute to documentation, developer experience, and best practices for cloud-native and local-first development.

Required Skills & Experience

  • 3+ years working with AWS services (Lambda, Step Functions, DynamoDB, S3, IAM, CloudFormation/SAM/CDK).
  • Strong background in infrastructure as code (IaC) and automation tools.
  • Proficiency with at least one programming language used in serverless environments (Node.js, Python).
  • Familiarity with Docker and containerization.
  • Understanding of distributed systems, event-driven architecture, and workflow orchestration.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work in a fast-moving startup environment.

Nice to Have

  • Experience with local AWS emulation tools (LocalStack, SAM Local, Step Functions Local).
  • Knowledge of desktop application environments (Electron, cross-platform packaging).
  • Contributions to open source projects or developer tools.
  • Familiarity with cost-optimization strategies for serverless workloads.

What We Offer

  • Fully remote and flexible working environment.
  • Opportunity to shape the future of local-first cloud development tools.
  • A small, fast-moving team where your contributions have a direct impact.
