Senior Embedded Software Engineer
About The Opportunity
We are redefining the future of manufacturing by deploying fully autonomous, software-driven 3D printing factories worldwide. By merging real-time controls, advanced sensing, and data-centric intelligence, we create flawless, digitally verified metal parts at a pace and cost never before possible. Our vision is to scale additive manufacturing across industries, unlocking new frontiers of innovation and accessibility.
Role Overview
As a
Senior Embedded Software Engineer, you will design and implement the core embedded systems that serve as the "nervous system" of high-speed autonomous 3D printing facilities. This role blends low-level programming, high-performance computing, and precision hardware control to build reliable, real-time software capable of managing massive data throughput while coordinating tightly with advanced electromechanical systems. You will be a hands-on contributor driving innovation at the intersection of hardware and software, ensuring that complex ideas translate into world-class, production-ready systems.
What You’ll Do
- Architect and implement real-time embedded software for next-generation additive manufacturing platforms.
- Develop the instruction layer that interfaces directly with high-precision 3D printing hardware.
- Design and deploy software for computer vision, sensor monitoring, calibration, and system health tracking.
- Collaborate with process and controls engineers to integrate advanced control algorithms into production software.
- Work closely with FPGA teams to deliver high-speed data acquisition solutions.
- Develop tools for process data collection, monitoring, and performance analysis.
- Build automation software to streamline factory operations and production workflows.
- Ensure scalability, robustness, and maintainability through rigorous testing and documentation.
Qualifications
Required
- 5+ years of professional experience in embedded software development.
- Proficiency in C, C++, and/or Rust for real-time applications.
- Experience designing embedded systems on Linux OS.
- Strong foundation in object-oriented programming and design principles.
Preferred
- BS, MS, or PhD in Computer Science, Electrical/Computer Engineering, Applied Mathematics, or a related field.
- Background in high-performance computing environments (GPUs or FPGAs).
- Experience with PCIe driver development and debugging.
- Hands-on work with high-speed data acquisition and closed-loop real-time control systems.
- Solid understanding of OS-level coding, IP protocols, interfaces, and hardware subsystems.
- Experience in robotics, industrial automation, or related hardware-intensive domains.
- Ability to apply creative, first-principles problem solving to novel challenges.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
Location
This role is based in Hawthorne, CA, in a 35,000 sq. ft. modern facility equipped with collaborative open spaces for R&D and production. The location sits at the heart of Los Angeles’ thriving tech community, surrounded by other pioneering startups and enterprises.
Why Join
- Play a defining role in advancing the world’s first autonomous, production-scale 3D printing factories.
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team solving some of the hardest engineering challenges in manufacturing.
- Work in an environment that values creativity, precision, and continuous learning.
Compensation & Benefits
- Compensation: $140,000–$250,000, inclusive of stock options. Final package tailored based on experience, skills, and unique contributions.
- Equity: Significant stock option grants.
- Health & Wellness: 100% employer-paid medical, dental, and vision insurance, plus life insurance.
- Retirement: Traditional and Roth 401(k) plans.
- Time Off: Paid vacation, sick leave, company holidays, and generous parental leave with transition support.
- Extras: Relocation assistance, catered meals, fully stocked kitchen, flexible hours, casual dress, and regular team-building events.
This is a high-impact opportunity to help build a software platform that powers intelligent, autonomous factories and transforms how industries manufacture at scale.
