Compensation
- $103,000 to $148,000 annually
Role Overview
The DevOps Engineer develops, configures, and manages application servers and the associated software. The DevOps Engineer also analyzes and maintains system performance such as server stress and ensures efficient resource usage. Further role responsibilities include supporting customers on projects involving software architecture feedback related to design, network design and implementation, configuring new applications, and maintaining and updating existing programs. As needed, this role will help support troubleshoot infrastructure or network problems and can help provide client data for debugging and testing. This position is expected to provide input in implementing and supporting Cutsforth's monitoring applications, supporting and enhancing customer network installations along with continuous improvements of the applications while supporting business and testing needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Develops, configures, and manages application servers as well as the software that runs on those servers.
- Designs and optimizes monitoring system networks, both on-premise and cloud. Assists customers with InsightCM Server and Cutsforth Monitoring Application setup configuration and operator education initiatives.
- Coordinates customer specific software version deployments, upgrades and the like utilizing project and task management tools.
- Responsible for the deployment and determination of customer network infrastructure.
- Analyzes and maintains system performance such as server stress and ensures efficient resource usage.
- Responsible for creating scripts in source control for provisioning and configuration of infrastructure and setup, using Terraform for Infrastructure as Code (IaC).
- Collaborates with R&D and other developers, software architects, and quality assurance testers to provide and support robust software solutions.
- Maintains and implements cybersecurity protocols as required, including code chain of custody and code security.
- Participates in code reviews to analyze and improve code written by other vendors or team members.
- Assist in the preparation of user, technical, or other quality documentation and reports
- Develop & maintain relationships with key contacts including vendors, clients, keeping feedback channels open and healthy.
- Limited travel may be required for performing equipment tests, software installation and troubleshooting, and customer training.
Required Qualifications
- Five or more years of education in computer science or related field
- Project-based development experience
- Experience integrating mechanical and electronic controls, understanding of instrumentation and P&ID diagrams, control logic, safety integrated systems, and controls; administrative and teamwork
- Experience in the following areas:
- Modbus
- Web Development tools
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Mechanical, Electrical, or Computer Engineering, Computer Science or related field.
- Three or more years of experience with design, programming and implementation of LabVIEW projects, utilizing FPGA, hosted on cRIO’s.
- Certified LabVIEW Developer or Certified LabVIEW Architect

- The CLA is the highest level of LabVIEW certification, and it demonstrates mastery in architecting and project managing LabVIEW applications. The exam verifies the user’s ability to build a sensible VI hierarchy and project plan for delivering an application that fulfills a set of high-level requirements. Certified Architects provide technical leadership, helping ensure the developers on their team follow best practices and become more competent and efficient developers.”

- The CLD demonstrates an ability to create functional, well-documented LabVIEW code with minimal development. The Certified LabVIEW Developer (CLD) exam verifies the user’s ability to design and develop functional programs while minimizing development time and ensuring maintainability through proper documentation and style. Certified Developers can provide technical leadership to less experienced engineers, ensuring their team is following best practices and becoming more competent and efficient LabVIEW programmers.
Other Qualifications
- Successfully pass background check for cybersecurity access requirements.
- Project management, communication, organization, and initiative are key skills needed for this role.
- Support and customer service skills are necessary: Functions as the primary network support designate for Cutsforth monitoring systems on customer implementation and post-sales support.
- Supports software, infrastructure and networking for Cutsforth monitoring systems
- Supports the infrastructure development and implementation of new algorithms and tools including National Instruments InsightCM software utilizing LabVIEW real-time with Compact RIO hardware.
- Conducts routine and non-routine testing on existing algorithms to identify bugs and areas for optimization
- Documents algorithm implementation, user requirements and specifications.
- Must have the ability to follow patterns and build upon established models.
- Must have experience employing the scientific method of problem-solving.
- Must seek to understand and implement complex system designs.
- Must be able to estimate the time required to complete familiar tasks/projects properly.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and teamwork skills Proficiency in Microsoft Office is expected.

Physical Requirements
- Must be able to sit and stand for extended periods of time.
- Must be able to lift a minimum of 25 pounds
- Must be able to make and receive audio and video conference calls
- Must be able to use hands to type, handle products and tools and navigate a computer keyboard
