This client requires a Senior Business Intelligence Developer to drive the strategic direction of their reporting and analytics capabilities. You will act as a subject matter expert, taking ownership of the end-to-end BI architecture, establishing data governance practises, and mentoring other developers. Your work will transform complex operational data into critical, actionable insights that directly influence executive decision-making and business strategy.
What You'll Do
- Architect and govern the BI solution, ensuring the integrity, performance, and long-term scalability of the data models (e.g., star and snowflake schemas).
- Lead the design and development of complex ETL/ELT programmes and data pipelines, focusing on performance tuning and data quality governance.
- Analyse highly complex, disparate data sets and collaborate directly with senior business stakeholders to define and document strategic reporting requirements.
- Create and optimise advanced dashboards, reports, and visualisations using industry-leading BI tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau) for executive consumption and self-service analytics.
- Act as the technical authority for SQL optimisation, data warehousing concepts, and BI tool functionality.
- Establish best practises and standards for BI development, code review, and deployment, ensuring a repeatable and reliable development lifecycle.
- Mentor and guide junior and mid-level developers, fostering technical excellence and a deep understanding of data warehousing principles.
What You'll Bring
- 6+ years of progressive professional experience as a BI Developer or Architect, with at least 2 years operating in a senior or lead capacity.
- Expert-level proficiency in SQL for complex querying, stored procedures, and advanced performance tuning.
- Proven experience with a major cloud-based data warehouse platform (e.g., Snowflake, AWS Redshift, or Google BigQuery).
- Demonstrated expertise in at least one industry-leading BI visualisation tool (Power BI or Tableau strongly preferred), including administration and governance.
- Deep understanding of data warehousing architecture, dimensional modelling, and data governance frameworks.
- Experience with a modern ETL/ELT framework or toolset (e.g., Informatica, Talend, or dbt).
- Exceptional communication and leadership skills, with the ability to influence technical architecture and communicate strategy to executive audiences.
