About The Role

We are seeking a talented and motivated backend/software engineer to join our remote team, with optional responsibilities in frontend development. This role offers a unique opportunity to have an outsized impact on the company's trajectory by contributing to the development of core products through building and maintaining web APIs and data applications. The ideal candidate will collaborate closely with engineering and product teams to design, implement, and optimize features that enhance our platform's performance and developer experience. The position is suitable for a broad range of experience levels, equivalent to roles from L3 to L6 at large tech firms, providing flexibility for professionals at different stages of their careers. You will work in a dynamic environment that values innovation, technical excellence, and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• Proficiency in modern Python programming language
• 3+ years of experience designing, implementing, and/or integrating web APIs (REST, GraphQL, RPC)
• Degree in computer science, applied mathematics, or a related field
• Strong understanding of web development principles and best practices
• Experience working in a Linux environment
• Excellent problem-solving and communication skills

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with engineers and product teams to develop web backend services and APIs for core products
• Design, ideate, and implement new product features and enhancements in partnership with cross-functional teams
• Maintain and optimize existing web and data applications for stability and performance
• Improve the performance and developer experience of web APIs through continuous refinement
• Enhance engineering workflows, including testing, release management, deployment, QA, and documentation processes
• Contribute to the development and maintenance of scalable, reliable, and secure data solutions

Nice-to-Haves

• Prior experience at a high-growth tech startup or electronic trading firm
• Knowledge of financial data types such as market data feeds, time series, security references, or machine-readable news
• Experience with containerized deployment tools like Docker, Docker Swarm, or Kubernetes
• Familiarity with release engineering practices, CI/CD pipelines, and zero-downtime deployment strategies
• Experience with database design and administration (MySQL, Redis, ClickHouse)
• Proficiency with web frameworks such as Django, Flask, FastAPI, or Starlette
• Exposure to frontend web development technologies including TypeScript, HTML, CSS, and React
• Experience working with single-page applications and modern web architectures
• Knowledge of lower-level languages such as C, C++, or Rust is a plus
