Position Summary:

The Product Owner has a critical role in Agile and Scrum development and is responsible for understanding the product vision, managing the product backlog, and prioritizing features to maximize business value in support of the organization’s strategic goals. This role bridges the product requirements, defined through Product Management and Research, to the development team for technical implementation. The role will collaborate across multiple departments to troubleshoot, manage and execute releases all in alignment with the strategic roadmap and vision defined by product management and research teams under the operations organization.

This is a Remote/Work from Home position reporting to Sr. Manager of Product & Business Analysis.

What you will do:

  • Partner with Product Management in thoroughly understanding the vision and strategy for the product that our customer and/or the business need.
  • Create, maintain, and prioritize the backlog, which is a list of all requested features and improvements.
  • Collaborate with the development team to translate product vision into tangible features to ensure that the product is built correctly and meets the specified requirements.
  • Determine which features to develop next, based on their potential value, impact on users, and alignment with business objectives.
  • Gather and document business and functional requirements from Product Manager’s, stakeholders, and other team members to ensure the product meets their needs including creating user stories and acceptance criteria.
  • Partner with Strategic Program Owner’s (SPO) and the Technology/IT Director’s to prioritize backlog items for sprint planning with scrum teams.
  • Make informed day-to-day decisions during development in alignment with product requirements, goals, and priorities set by Product Management.
  • Accept completed work based on acceptance criteria and reject work that doesn't meet the required standards.
  • Participate in sprint planning and review meetings to help the team understand the highest-priority items and define the sprint goal and to review completed work, gather feedback, and assess progress towards the product vision.
  • Continuously optimize the product and development process to maximize value delivery for both the business and end users.
  • Partner with product management to align sprint goals and technical delivery with release timelines. Ensure delivery velocity supports strategic timelines without sacrificing quality or customer outcomes.
  • Collaborate with product research to incorporate user testing and feedback loops into backlog grooming and prioritization.

Qualifications:

  • BS degree in information technology, computer science, engineering, or equivalent preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience as a technical / product analyst, product owner or product management role or function.
  • Familiarity with Agile methodologies alongside waterfall, and the role of the Product Owner in Scrum.
  • Experience in translation of product strategy into requirements.
  • Proven track record of managing all aspects of a successful product throughout its lifecycle.
  • Experience in developing product implementation and release strategies and effectively communicate recommendations to management.
  • Skilled at working effectively with cross functional teams.
  • Demonstrated ability to proactively learn and operate independently with minima guidance.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, presentation, and problem-solving skills, including communicating with stakeholders, and all levels of leadership.
  • Self-starter with strong organizational and time management skills, self-directed and able to handle multiple priorities with demanding time frames.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and staff to create a high-quality results-driven, team-oriented environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to use discretion, make sound decisions, and maintain confidentiality.
  • Willingness and ability to work flexible hours.
  • Proficient in MS Office, modern communication tools for virtual teams (i.e., MS Teams) Jira, Confluence, and Atlas.
  • Knowledge of Telephony, data dashboards and reporting tools, DevOps and development tools, Machine learning platforms, and other corporate software applications preferred.

Physical Demands:

Employees may experience the following physical demands for extended periods of time: 

  • Sitting, standing and walking (95-100%)   
  • Keyboarding (70-90%)  
  • Viewing computer monitor, tablet and cell phone requiring close vision (70-90%) 

Work Environment:

100% Remote: Work environment is at home.

Compensation:

$100,000 to $125,000 plus 5% bonus determined by competitive market analysis and internal equity considerations. Final compensation will be based on the candidate’s qualifications, experience, and business needs.
