Personal Assistant to Head of Service / Assistant Director in UNITED KINGDOM

Are you looking a part-time PA position?

We have a vacancy for a 6 month fixed term contract for a PA to join our team of PA's at ESCC who support the Assistant Directors and Heads of Service in Adult Social Care, working 15 hours a week. We are based in County Hall Lewes, but work in a hybrid way splitting our time between working in the office (minimum 1 day a week) and working from home.

We are a hardworking, friendly, and supportive team who needs someone with PA or Senior Administrative experience to assist our Heads of Service in carrying out their roles. The role will predominantly be diary management and meeting organisation (including minute taking), as well as tasks assigned by the Head of Service/Assistant Director.

The contract is an initial 6 months but there may be the opportunity to extend this. We are looking for someone who can work 15 hours a week and the split of these hours across the week can be negotiated at interview, however it will need to meet the needs of the service too.

We are looking for candidates who are organised and able to manage their own workload, who are capable of working with minimal supervision. Candidates must have good written an verbal English and able to communicate effectively in various mediums (email, phone calls, Teams). Attention to detail and maintaining confidentiality is key to this role. Experience of Microsoft 365 packages (mainly, Outlook, Teams, SharePoint, Excel, and PowerPoint). Experience of managing multiple diaries, and meeting organisation including taking accurate and timely minutes is key. If you have limited minute-taking skills, then please still apply as we can provide training and shadowing to learn this skill.

This is a great opportunity for someone who maybe wants to have a part-time role to fit in with family commitments, or who is looking for that next step from an administrator role. If you are unsure if you meet all the criteria, we would rather you apply anyway so we can have a discussion about your skills match.

The successful candidate needs to be able to commute to Lewes a minimum of one day (part or full day) per week. Cover for the office will be required for more than 1 day a week for holiday cover, busy periods etc so the need to be flexible will be required, but notice will be given in advance.

Please state how you meet these criteria in your covering letter, submitted along with your CV. We will be shortlisting based upon the answers provided in your cover letter (in conjunction with your CV) so please do make it clear how you meet the essential (and desirable) criteria on the job description. Applications submitted with a CV only (without a cover letter) will unfortunately be rejected.

Interviews will take place (w/c 10/17 June) via Microsoft Teams unless you request an in-person interview. If you are unavailable on these dates let us know and we may be able to schedule an alternative date to interview you.

We offer a diverse range of benefits to help and support you during your employment. More information can be found on our

We have various training courses and Apprenticeships available to build a career with East Sussex County Council.

For an informal discussion about this opportunity contact Helen Newark, PA to Director of ASC&H at helen.newark@eastsussex.gov.uk to request a MS teams or phone call.

Your starting salary will be pro rata if the above position is part-time or term-time only.
