Work ArrangementsDue to the nature of the work and operational requirements, this position is eligible for a hybrid work arrangement (combination of working onsite and telework). Employees in this position who telework will be required to travel to the identified work site at least three times per week or a minimum of 60% of their regular work schedule at their own expense.

The Role

We are looking for a Project Management Coordinator to support our Automotive and Surface Transportation (AST) Research Centre. The Project Management Coordinator would be someone who shares our core values of Integrity, Excellence, Respect and Creativity.

The coordinator is responsible for supporting project management activities by working closely with project managers, R-D directors and senior project managers, and providing expertise on practices, systems and tools in order to ensure projects are tracked and managed efficiently.

More specifically, in the role of Project Coordinator for the AST directorate in Boucherville, you open, maintains and close projects in SAP, oversee project management and performance (tracking and reporting) and ensures the rigor of operational practices, systems, tools and project data.

Screening Criteria

Applicants must demonstrate within the content of their application that they meet the following screening criteria in order to be given further consideration as candidates:

Education

College degree in a related field.

Project Management courses may be considered an asset.

An equivalent combination of work-related experience, formal training and education would also be considered.

Experience

  • Experience supporting project management in a research and development (R&D) environment including:
    • gathering information and updating project data;
    • maintaining project forms, templates and tools; and
    • producing project reports.
  • Significant* experience using MS Office tools including Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
  • Experience in the implementation of best practices in regards to project management.
  • Experience providing advice and/or training to colleagues.
  • Experience managing multiple competing priorities on a daily basis.

The following experience criteria would be considered as asset:

  • Experience using SAP Project Systems.
  • Significant experience is defined as two (2) to six (6) years of experience.

For a Reliability Status, verification of background information over a period of 5 years is required.

Assessment Criteria

Candidates will be assessed on the basis of the following criteria:

Technical Competencies

  • Strong knowledge of project management theory and practices.
  • Knowledge of operational and financial management within a large organization preferably within a Canadian federal government context.
  • Ability to read and interpret project and financial data.
  • Ability to give presentations and provide coaching and training to colleagues in various aspects of project management.
  • Solid knowledge of MS Office tools including Excel, Word and PowerPoint.

The following competencies would be considered as assets:

  • Knowledge of accounting, financial and business principles and methods.
  • Knowledge of Treasury Board Financial Guidelines and the Financial Administration Act.

Compensation

From $68,047 to $80,289 per annum.

In addition, the incumbent will receive the Bilingualism Bonus of $800 per year.
