As we expand our R&D operations in Japan, we’re seeking talented engineers to drive the development of application-specific products for cooling devices, fuel cells, water electrolyzers, and catalytic systems.
Role Overview:
In this role, you will lead the development of advanced materials and components using our proprietary gel-enabled metal manufacturing technology. You will work closely with a multidisciplinary team to address complex technical challenges and scale up our innovative solutions from R&D to manufacturing.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the R&D team in designing and developing advanced materials and components
- Identify technical challenges and develop hypothesis-driven solutions
- Drive projects from initial R&D through to manufacturing scale-up
- Collaborate with external partners and establish strategic alliances
- Stay abreast of emerging trends in materials science and metal manufacturing
Required Qualifications:
- Proven experience leading R&D teams in materials science, chemical engineering, or related fields
- Strong problem-solving skills with a first-principles approach
- Master’s or Ph.D. in Chemistry, Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related discipline
- Proficiency in standard PC tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Japanese language proficiency is not required
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in thermal management systems, including heatsink or cold plate design (theory, simulation, experimentation)
- Expertise in fluid dynamics simulation, particularly in thermal or catalytic systems
- Hands-on experience with electrochemical testing and evaluation
Work Schedule and Compensation:
- Working Hours: 8:00 – 17:00 (1-hour lunch break)
- Average Overtime: ~20 hours/month
- Flex-time available
- Occasional domestic and international travel
