100% REMOTE Software Development Engineer in Test - English speaking required

Our client

They have been setting the standard for direct-to-home services technology for nearly 7 years and continue to lead innovation in an industry that provides services to hundreds of thousands of residents across the United States. People who come to work at the company are straight-talking, forward-thinking, hard workers who come together both to collaborate and to have a good time. Our client, the leader in the pest control industry, is looking for Software Engineers. Their SDEs are relied on to build the future of their direct-to-home service delivery platform. As a part of their Engineering department, this role requires the ability to move quickly, think deeply and work well with others on your Agile Scrum team: engineers, UX, product owners, and stakeholders. As a Senior Software Engineer, you will engineer, code, and test resilient, highly-scalable software systems for both their web applications as well as backend APIs for their mobile apps servicing their hundreds of thousands of customers. They are significantly building out the engineering teams and are seeking talented coders who love growth to be a part of this expansion.

Responsibilities

We're hiring a Senior SDET to lead how we engineer for the company's quality. This is a deeply technical role—focused on building automation frameworks, driving strategy, and partnering across the team to ship high-quality software quickly and confidently.

This person won't just write tests—they'll shape how testing is done: from tooling and structure to how testing integrates with CI/CD and product development. They'll collaborate closely with our full-stack engineers, product team, and architecture leadership to make quality a shared responsibility.

What We're Looking For

  • Strong experience in JavaScript/TypeScript-based automation
  • Proficiency with modern UI frameworks (e.g. React), and tools like Playwright, Cypress, or equivalents
  • Comfortable testing component-level UI using Storybook and visual regression tools
  • Proven ability to test RESTful APIs, with a solid understanding of API-first architecture and layered testing
  • Familiarity with backend testing, including frameworks like Pest/PHPUnit, but also capable of navigating systems written in other languages and frameworks (e.g. Node.js, Python, Go, etc.)
  • CI/CD experience, ideally with GitHub Actions
  • Security-minded, with a habit of thinking through edge cases and abuse vectors
  • Strong grasp of the testing pyramid, test reliability, and test performance optimization
  • Demonstrated ability to work in polyglot environments, bridging across services and stacks

Working hours: 8 pm - 2 am (GMT+7), Mon to Fri (with 2 additional flexible hours, total 8 hours / day)

Method: online & remote

Qualifications

  • Own and evolve our test architecture: tooling, structure, frameworks, data strategies
  • Champion the testing pyramid, ensuring we get the right coverage at the right levels:
  • Unit tests (engineer-owned, fast feedback)
  • Integration/API tests (validating service boundaries, contracts, and business logic)
  • E2E/UI automation (critical paths, flows, and regressions)
  • Component testing via Storybook (visual and interaction fidelity)
  • Build systems with an eye on test performance, flake reduction, and ease of maintenance
  • Help ensure test coverage scales across languages, not just within one framework
  • Partner early with product and engineering to define quality and testability up front
  • Advocate for secure, resilient testing strategies that catch more than just happy paths

This role is an opportunity to own testing strategy end-to-end in a modern engineering org with an API-first approach, a React UI, and a growing service-oriented backend. We're leaning into tools like Playwright, Cypress, and Chromatic—but we're looking for someone who can lead that direction, not just follow it.
