Our client is looking for a dedicated HR Leader to join their team near Friendly, WV, where you'll play a pivotal role in developing and implementing forward-thinking employee relations strategies for their 400+ team members as the Human Resources - Labor Relations Leader. This will be a full-time direct hire with the client company.

Your Role:

In this role, you will be at the heart of their HR operations, working closely with local business leaders to ensure effective HR processes and a positive work environment. Your responsibilities will span the entire employee journey, from recruiting and onboarding to performance management and compensation. You'll be a strategic partner, providing expert counsel on HR policies and actively promoting the company's Core Values. Key focus will be on labor relations and related processes.


Key Responsibilities:

HR Advising / Coaching / Business Partnering (40%)

  • Advise leaders and supervisors on employee management.
  • Participate in cross-functional discussions and working sessions.
  • Facilitate team sessions and develop content based on needs.
  • Lead local leadership and strategic workforce planning.
  • Interface with unions on contractual and policy issues, collective bargaining, grievances, and arbitration.
  • Design community relationships to brand the company and ensure sustainability goals are met.

Employee Life Cycle (30%)

  • Design site-specific new hire orientations.
  • Manage employee changes, adjustments, and promotions.
  • Lead employee and labor relations, addressing concerns and investigations promptly.
  • Implement and drive local HR programs, policies, and practices.
  • Advocate for employees by resolving conflicts and promoting positive associate relations.

Talent Management / Staffing (10%)

  • Lead local recruiting efforts and participate in the hiring process.
  • Facilitate employee development and training.
  • Ensure leaders, managers, and employees understand key company processes.
  • Promote recognition programs.

Compliance and Policy (5%)

  • Stay up-to-date on legal and compliance requirements.
  • Maintain and update local policies.

HR Skillset Development (15%)

  • Demonstrate proficiency in business skills like PowerPoint, Excel, Workday, SharePoint, and Success Factors.
  • Develop core HR skills in staffing, employee lifecycle relations, HR systems, compliance, employee development, performance, and total compensation.
  • Maintain external market knowledge to support local needs.
  • Initiate continuous improvement to HR processes.

Travel Requirements:

  • Up to 5% based on business needs.


Ideal Candidate:

  • 7+ years of progressive, hands-on experience within a manufacturing site, including labor relations and union activities.
  • Significant experience managing the union grievance process, including serving as a key point of contact and overseeing grievance activities.
  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources, labor relations, or a related discipline.
  • Knowledge of West Virginia state and federal labor laws, especially the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB).
  • Strong influencing skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Capable of effectively multitasking and managing competing priorities.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.


Compensation and Benefits:

Additionally, this role is eligible for incentive or sales variable compensation payments. The amount of these incentives is based on the terms of the Company's incentive plans, the Company's financial performance, and/or individual employee job performance.
