Job Title: Product Owner

Location: Halifax, NS (Permanent Remote – Open to candidates anywhere in Canada; EST and CST time zones preferred)


Job Description

Seeking an experienced Product Owner to lead cross-functional teams in designing, developing, and delivering data governance initiatives and technical products. This role will oversee key projects from concept to implementation, ensuring alignment with organizational strategy and a superior consumer experience. The successful candidate will bring a passion for building efficient, user-centered solutions while navigating complex dependencies and cross-team collaboration.


Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and coordinate cross-functional teams from initial design through delivery of technical products.
  • Monitor project performance and recommend adjustments in scheduling, budgeting, or resource allocation as needed.
  • Manage project planning and solutioning phases by identifying product gaps, gathering requirements, and validating feasibility.
  • Provide timely and transparent updates to stakeholders and leadership on progress, roadblocks, and strategy alignment.
  • Serve as the key liaison between business, development, and technical architecture teams to ensure end-to-end delivery of technical solutions.
  • Maintain ongoing internal communication across business units, IT leadership, Scrum Masters, Solution Architects, and external partners.
  • Prioritize and assign work based on Lean Portfolio Management (LPM) strategies and organizational goals.
  • Drive stakeholder engagement, remove blockers, and ensure delivery alignment with strategic preferences and interoperability goals.
  • Guide the team in solving complex and ambiguous problems with simple and user-friendly solutions.
  • Develop subject matter expertise and share knowledge within the organization.


Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 3+ years of technical experience
  • 5+ years of experience in leadership and/or project management roles
  • Proven ability to drive collaboration, communication, and execution across diverse teams
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience working in dynamic environments with rapidly shifting priorities
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to pivot between strategic vision and tactical execution
  • Deep understanding of user experience principles


Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with data governance projects or enterprise preference systems
  • Understanding of Lean Portfolio Management (LPM) and value-based delivery strategies
  • Experience managing relationships with external partners and internal stakeholders
  • Ability to lead discussions and drive alignment across cross-functional teams including product, business, and engineering
  • Familiarity with interoperability frameworks, and integration with multiple internal/external teams
  • Six Sigma Certification
  • Ability to align team efforts with enterprise-level strategy and technology roadmaps
