As a Backend Engineer at Kobi, you’ll be a key player in shaping a platform that will redefine secure transactions. You'll collaborate closely with product managers, fellow engineers, and leadership to deliver a user-friendly app that our users can rely on. Roles: Contract to Hire or Full time

Key Responsibilities

• Cross-Platform Development: Build responsive UIs for Android, iOS, and Web using Flutter.
• Backend Integration: Set up a hybrid backend system.
• Agile Development: Actively participate in an Agile environment, contributing to sprints, backlog grooming, and iterative development to deliver features quickly while maintaining quality. 🏃‍♂️
• Security & Compliance: Ensure the app adheres to NDPR and financial regulations, implementing security measures like encryption and multi-factor authentication (MFA) to protect sensitive user data. 🔐
• Quality Assurance & Refactoring: Engage in continuous testing, bug fixing, and refactoring to ensure that the app is reliable, efficient, and easy to maintain. Champion best practices in clean code and modular design. 🔄
• CI/CD Pipelines: Set up CI/CD pipelines for continuous integration, automated testing, and seamless deployment, ensuring stable releases and efficient updates. 🛠️
• Collaboration & Problem Solving: Work closely with the product and engineering teams to translate business needs into scalable technical solutions, while resolving technical challenges quickly and efficiently.
• Researching & Adapting: Stay up-to-date with the latest trends in technology and security, researching and adopting the best solutions to ensure the app remains innovative and ahead of the curve. 🔍📈.
• Code Hygiene & Refactoring:
• Champion clean code, comprehensive testing, and continuous optimization across backend components.
• Tooling & Documentation:
• Maintain backend documentation, task logs, and update trackers according to company standards.

• A strong communicator with the ability to explain and justify engineering decisions to both technical and non-technical stakeholders. 💬

Qualifications

• 4+ years of backend development experience, specializing in API development and secure system architecture. Previous fintech experience is a plus.
• Proficient in Backend Frameworks: Strong knowledge of Node.js, Django, or similar frameworks, with experience building and integrating RESTful APIs.
• Security Awareness: Understanding of encryption standards (AES-256), token-based authentication (OAuth/JWT), and compliance frameworks like NDPR/GDPR.
• Database Expertise: Hands-on experience with PostgreSQL, MongoDB, or serverless platforms e.g.  Firebase, ensuring secure and optimized data handling.
• Version Control: Skilled in Git for collaborative development.

Bonus Points:

• Prior experience developing payment apps, or using smart contracts for secure transactions.
• Familiarity with scalable system design and real-time synchronization.
• Experience in blockchain, payment or fintech applications is a plus! 🤑
• Experience with creating microservice backend.
• Experience with creating algorithms and/or integrating machine learning. 
• Familiarity with Flutter integration, and hybrid backend architectures.
