About Us/The Project: We are seeking a talented and experienced Freelance Phaser Game Developer to collaborate on exciting web-based game projects. We focus on creating engaging, high-quality gaming experiences and require a developer proficient in the Phaser framework to help bring our visions to life. You will work remotely, collaborating with our core team (or designers/project managers) to develop new features and maintain existing game titles.

Role Overview: As a Freelance Phaser Game Developer, you will be responsible for the hands-on development, implementation, and debugging of gameplay features for our HTML5 games using the Phaser framework. You'll translate design concepts and requirements into functional, performant, and enjoyable game mechanics. This is a remote contract position with flexible hours, focused on delivering specific project goals.

What You Will Do:

• Develop, code, and implement new gameplay features, mechanics, and UI elements for Phaser/HTML5 games based on project specifications.
• Collaborate with designers, artists, and project managers (or clients directly) to ensure features meet design goals and user experience standards.
• Debug existing Phaser game codebases to identify and resolve bugs, performance bottlenecks, and other technical issues.
• Optimize game assets and code for efficient performance across web browsers and potentially mobile devices.
• Integrate frontend game logic with backend services using WebSockets and/or RESTful APIs.
• Provide estimates for development tasks and track progress effectively.
• Participate in project planning discussions and provide technical input.
• Communicate clearly and proactively regarding progress, challenges, and potential solutions.

Requirements:

• Proven experience as a Game Developer with a strong portfolio showcasing Phaser-based projects.
• 3-4+ years of professional Javascript development experience, with strong proficiency in modern Javascript (ES6+) and/or Typescript.
• Solid experience and deep understanding of the Phaser framework (Phaser 3 preferred).
• Familiarity with WebGL concepts as they apply to Phaser development.
• Experience using package builders/bundlers (e.g., Webpack, Vite).
• Demonstrable experience integrating web games with backend APIs (REST, WebSockets).
• Strong technical skills in debugging, profiling, and optimizing web-based games.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to work independently and manage your time effectively in a remote setting.
• A passion for creating and playing video games.

Desirable Pluses:

• Experience developing games for mobile web browsers.
• Involvement in shipping at least one commercial game title from start to finish.
• Familiarity with using AI tools to assist in development workflows.
• Experience with other game engines or web technologies.
• A background in Computer Science, Mathematics, or a related technical field.
