About the role:
The Section Leader is pivotal in overseeing the operations of our Hydraulics/Mechanics department, which also covers Electrical and General Engineering. This position reports directly to the General Manager and requires a strong marine background, particularly in Mega/Super Yachts and Commercial aspects. Advanced technical expertise in hydraulic systems and electrical control systems relevant to marine engineering is essential. Additionally, strong organizational and administrative skills are crucial for success in this role. The role may involve performing service-based tasks within and outside the company premises and may require occasional travel.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Technical Hydraulics Proficiency: Demonstrate advanced technical knowledge and expertise in hydraulic systems, with a specific focus on their application in marine engineering.
- Electrical Control Systems Acumen: Exhibit a deep understanding of electrical control systems, especially those relevant to marine engineering, ensuring the seamless integration of hydraulic and electrical components.
- General Engineering Oversight: Provide oversight and guidance in general engineering tasks, ensuring comprehensive departmental coverage.
- Safety-Focused Work Planning: Strategically plan and oversee departmental work activities with an unwavering commitment to safety, encompassing hydraulic, electrical, and general engineering aspects.
- Workplace Organization: Ensure a clean and well-organized working environment within the department, conducive to efficient operations across all engineering areas.
- Accurate Reporting: Produce precise and comprehensible reports, maintaining attention to detail and clarity, particularly in technical documentation related to hydraulics and electrical control systems.
- Equipment Proficiency: Demonstrate proficiency in the operation and maintenance of all equipment and tools within the designated area, with a strong emphasis on hydraulic and electrical equipment.
- Workshop Oversight: Monitor the activities and performance of the Hose Assembly Workshop, Workshop Service Team, and Field Service Team, providing technical guidance where necessary.
- Financial Review: Conduct thorough monthly and quarterly financial reviews to assess and optimize departmental performance, including cost analysis related to hydraulic and electrical components and resources.
- Conflict Resolution: Effectively manage conflicts, fostering a harmonious working environment, even in situations involving technical disagreements.
- Stakeholder Communication: Maintain open and effective communication with clients and suppliers, ensuring their expectations are met or exceeded.
- Procurement Management: Generate, assess, and oversee purchase orders for hydraulic, electrical, and general engineering components, facilitating efficient procurement processes.
- Order Tracking: Vigilantly track the status of orders for hydraulic, electrical, and general engineering parts, ensuring timely delivery and adherence to schedules critical to marine engineering projects.
- Estimation and Invoicing: Skillfully create estimates and invoices, transparently documenting project costs and financial transactions, including those associated with hydraulic, electrical, and general engineering system installations and repairs.
- Liaison with IMM: Serve as the liaison and ensure timely response to the Project Manager of IMM for special jobs related to the department.
- Internal Collaboration: Maintain effective and transparent communication and cooperation with internal stakeholders, including heads of the Rigging, Fabrication, and Customer support departments, in relation to projects.
- Additional Responsibilities: Perform other related tasks as required to support the overall success and efficiency of the department.
Candidate Requirements:
- 8+ years in a marine environment, preferably as a Marine Engineer or Project Manager.
- Strong commitment to safety.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Willingness to learn and adapt.
- Ability to work well within a team and provide leadership.
