Job Description

Our core system "FIS" (Freight Information System) is one of the most advanced software solutions in the field of ERP software for container lines. We are looking for talented, technology-driven people to help us grow and prepare for the future challenges in our industry. 

With a particular focus on the “Network & Marine Operation”, we are looking for a solution architect for the cluster , which offers a unique opportunity to shape the future of Hapag-Lloyd. 

The “Network & Marine Operation”(NMO) cluster was launched with the aim of significantly rethinking our landscape.  

Create the cluster architecture and technology vision to ensure cross Cluster architecture alignment. 

As “Solution architect (m/f/d)”, you will be part of a hybrid architecture team that designs and facilitates the architectural migration path of a major monolithic solution towards decoupled self-contained systems. You support the multiple developer teams within the cluster in following that path, identifying bounded contexts, conceptualizing evolutionary migration steps, and driving architectural measures. You care for the integration architecture, a holistic data view and communication mechanisms. 

Having an ear on the concerns of the developer teams during the transformation journey, you pro-actively take up needs for architectural decisions, evaluate and prototype solution options, and drive implementation of decisions into the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Detailing the evolutionary migration path towards decoupled self-contained systems 
  • Overseeing synchronous/ asynchronous dependencies 
  • Continuous further architecting and developing the FIS architectural guidelines 
  • Elaborating and implementing solution options for architectural requirements 
  • Conducting architectural reviews with the product architects 
  • Ensuring the adherence to interface standards (APIs, events, …) 
  • Serving the transformation program office with regards to migration strategy development and governance 
  • Architectural support and interdisciplinary cooperation with to clarify and solve cross cluster issues, and to govern architectural standards implementation 


Qualifications

  • BSc/MSc in computer science, mathematics, physics, engineering or equivalent experience 
  • Deep knowledge and interest in architectural design of major software solutions as distributed systems and microservice architecture 
  • Hands-on experience in major system migrations and transformation initiatives 
  • Deep knowledge in integration architectures, event driven architecture, API management, data consistency solutions (e.g., SAGA pattern) 
  • General experience in software development (especially Java/JEE), and CI/CD 
  • Deep understanding of AWS soultions, especialiy conteneraise sytems (docker)
  • Strong communication skills, self-responsibility and team player, being a bridge builder in a complex systems landscape between various IT teams and our business stakeholders 
  • Very good command of written and spoken English 
  • On-site work for at least 3 days/ week in our IT office in central Gdansk 


The perfect candidate can also demonstrate some of the following:

  • Architect certification is appreciated 
  • Container orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes, OpenShift) 
  • Experience in DevOps (Jenkin, Artifactory, Maven, Gitlab/ Github) 
  • Messaging (Apache Kafka) 
  • Working experience or knowledge of international logistics context
