Senior Software Engineer in FRANCE

Visa sponsorship & Relocation 4 months ago

We’re looking for a talented and motivated Backend Engineer to join a growing startup as one of the foundational members of the engineering team. In this role, you'll collaborate closely with other developers, gradually taking ownership of core features and systems. Given the early-stage nature of the company, we're especially interested in versatile engineers who are excited to help shape the technical foundation across multiple domains.

We value depth of expertise and encourage each team member to grow into a subject matter expert in their respective areas.

What You’ll Do

Build Scalable Systems

You’ll be designing and building systems that handle high traffic and large-scale data, with a focus on performance and reliability. Expect to work with modern, thoughtfully chosen technologies to build elegant, horizontally scalable systems.

Cross-Platform Development

In addition to backend development, you'll contribute to the maintenance and evolution of a Rust component shared across iOS and Android platforms. This component handles networking, data synchronization, and other shared logic. You’ll work closely with mobile engineers to ensure seamless functionality across platforms.

Feature Ideation & Development

You’ll take part in brainstorming sessions, collaborate on feature design, and help implement experiences that stand out in the market.

Continuous Learning & Improvement

We’re big on learning and staying up to date with new technologies and practices. You’ll be encouraged to share ideas and contribute to a culture of continuous improvement.

Take Ownership

You’ll monitor analytics, manage system health, and proactively address issues and bugs. We value engineers who take initiative and feel responsible for the systems they build.

What We’re Looking For...

We’re hiring engineers at multiple levels of experience. Please let us know your years of professional experience when applying. Ideal qualifications include:

  • Experience writing Rust (professionally or through open-source contributions), or other systems-level languages like C++, C, or OCaml.
  • Experience working with distributed systems in production (e.g., Redpanda, Kafka, ScyllaDB, Cassandra, etc.).
  • An interest or background in building products within the consumer social space is a plus.

How We Work

To support strong collaboration and knowledge sharing, we work together onsite five days a week.

Here’s what we offer to make in-office life enjoyable:

  • Centrally located office in Paris, in a vibrant area with great transport access (Metro lines 3, 8, 9 and RER A).
  • Beautiful office space with high ceilings, balconies, and plenty of natural light.
  • Full reimbursement of commuting expenses.

Supporting Your Life Outside of Work

We aim to make life outside the office just as smooth:

  • Comprehensive healthcare coverage.
  • Fully paid parental leave (maternity, paternity, or second parent).
  • Company-wide shutdowns twice a year (two weeks in summer, one week in winter) to fully recharge — in addition to the standard four weeks of paid vacation.
  • No Slack. No email. No work during these breaks.

Relocation Support

We welcome team members from around the world and offer a relocation package that includes:

  • Sponsored visa process.
  • One month of Airbnb accommodation covered upon arrival.
  • Help finding permanent housing via a relocation service.
  • Support with French paperwork (social security, taxes, etc.).
  • French language lessons to help you settle into your new life in Paris.
