Geko is partnering with a global leader in AI infrastructure to find a Senior Manager of Data Centre Engineering for their expanding operations in Iceland.

🌟About the Role


As Senior Manager of Data Centre Engineering, you’ll be responsible for the daily performance, reliability, and continuous improvement of multiple data centre sites. You’ll manage a team of engineers and technicians on the ground and work closely with global teams to scale efficiently and sustainably.


This role blends operational leadership, technical depth, and team management – ideal for someone who can roll up their sleeves, lead from the front, and drive results in complex infrastructure environments.

🔍 Key Responsibilities


  • Lead day-to-day operations across Iceland-based data centre sites, maintaining 99.9%+ uptime and SLAs.
  • Ensure systems run reliably and efficiently – including electrical, mechanical, cooling, and IT infrastructure.
  • Manage, mentor, and grow a local team of site engineers and technicians.
  • Oversee site-level capacity planning, incident response, and hardware lifecycle management.
  • Implement and maintain robust safety, compliance, and operational protocols.
  • Continuously improve site processes to enhance scalability, reliability, and cost-efficiency.
  • Act as escalation point for on-site issues and support on-call response when needed.
  • Partner with global infrastructure, engineering, and project teams to support new deployments and upgrades.
  • Stay up to date with industry best practices and apply them to operations.

💫 What You Bring


  • 7+ years of hands-on data centre operations experience, with a track record of leading site teams.
  • Proven experience managing multi-megawatt data centre environments.
  • Strong knowledge of electrical and mechanical systems, BMS, and environmental controls.
  • Leadership experience in high-uptime, mission-critical environments.
  • Familiarity with operational compliance standards (e.g. ISO, OSHA, Uptime Institute).
  • Clear, confident communication skills with the ability to lead in high-pressure situations.
  • Experience with site expansion, scaling operations, and capacity management is a plus.
  • Willingness to be on-site in Iceland and take a hands-on approach when needed.

💰 Compensation & Benefits


Salary will be based on experience and aligned with the seniority and scope of the role. A relocation package is available for candidates moving to Iceland. Full details will be shared with shortlisted candidates during the interview process.
