Job Title: Security Operations Engineer

Location: Remote- Lisbon

Employment Type: Full-Time


Overview:

An exciting opportunity is available for an experienced Security Operations Engineer to join a fast-growing, cloud-first enterprise software organisation.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Deploy, configure, and maintain security tools including firewalls, antivirus, intrusion detection and prevention systems.
  • Monitor security infrastructure and SIEM platforms to detect and respond to potential threats.
  • Conduct regular vulnerability assessments and penetration testing to identify and address system weaknesses.
  • Investigate security incidents, analyse root causes, and implement remediation strategies.
  • Define and enforce security policies, procedures, and best practices across the business.
  • Provide expert guidance and support to IT teams on security design, incident response, and risk mitigation.
  • Track current CVEs and emerging threat vectors, ensuring proactive updates and mitigations are in place.
  • Collaborate with infrastructure and application teams to embed security across systems and processes.


Key Requirements:

  • Strong knowledge of core security technologies: firewalls, IDS/IPS, antivirus, endpoint protection.
  • Practical experience with Microsoft Defender 365, Microsoft Purview, and Microsoft Sentinel.
  • Familiarity with tools such as Snort, Suricata, Nessus, Qualys, and Cisco ASA or Barracuda firewalls.
  • Proficiency in network security, operating systems, and infrastructure hardening.
  • Relevant certifications (e.g., CompTIA Security+, CISSP, CCNA Security) are a strong advantage.
