Our client is looking for Senior Java Developers to join their growing team. This role sits within a multi-disciplinary team that builds, supports, and maintains user-centred digital solutions that deliver real value.
Senior Java Developers at our client’s organization are technical experts who act as senior consultants, providing software engineering expertise both internally and to clients. They drive technical deliverables, maintain client relationships, and mentor other engineers while contributing to a culture of continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as a technical subject matter expert (SME), ensuring user-centred software is developed based on business requirements and best practices.
- Work collaboratively to design and deliver solutions that address client challenges.
- Design and manage software development pipelines, proactively resolving issues and bottlenecks.
- Communicate and present prototypes, solutions, and progress to internal and external stakeholders.
- Build strong relationships with team members and stakeholders to overcome challenges.
- Participate in recruitment and onboarding of new engineers.
- Support the professional development of other consultants.
- Promote the company’s engineering expertise externally through blogs, workshops, and conferences.
About You
Our client is seeking an experienced Senior Java Developer with a strong technical background and excellent communication skills. The ideal candidate will have:
Technical Skills:
- Experience across the full software development lifecycle for user-centred digital solutions.
- Proficiency in Java and related technologies, including CXF, Spring Boot, Jetty, Mustache, HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
- Experience with JavaScript libraries/frameworks such as Node, React, or Angular.
- Knowledge of containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes, or similar).
- Expertise in Microservices design and architecture.
- Strong experience in RESTful API Services.
- Familiarity with Agile methodologies (Scrum, Kanban, TDD).
- Ability to design and build native and web applications across various scales and platforms.
- Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools (CloudFormation, Terraform, ARM, or similar).
- Proficiency in public cloud platforms (AWS or Azure) and DevOps practices.
- Hands-on experience with CI/CD tools (Jenkins, AWS CodeBuild, Azure DevOps, Atlassian).
- Previous experience working on government or NHS projects (highly desirable).
Soft Skills:
- Strong communication and presentation skills, able to articulate ideas clearly for both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Experience in mentorship and team leadership, supporting junior engineers.
- A problem-solving mindset with a collaborative and adaptable approach.
