About the Role

Our client is looking for Lead Test Engineers to join their growing team. Lead Test Engineers work within multi-disciplinary teams that build, support, and maintain user-centred digital solutions that deliver real value.

As a Lead Test Engineer, you will design and implement quality assurance processes, ensuring the delivery of high-quality products and services. You will be responsible for defining test parameters, creating test plans, conducting quality checks, and producing test reports. Additionally, you will support clients in continuously improving their products and services.

In this role, you will lead people and teams, manage projects, drive technical deliverables, maintain client relationships, and mentor others.

Key Responsibilities

  • Define and implement testing parameters in collaboration with the product design team.
  • Develop test plans and test cases, conducting quality assurance checks and performance tests.
  • Produce test reports for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues to explore, design, and deliver solutions to client challenges.
  • Design and manage software development and deployment pipelines, proactively resolving bottlenecks.
  • Continuously review and prioritize workload, ensuring alignment with operational priorities.
  • Present prototypes, solutions, and progress to stakeholders in a clear and concise manner.
  • Build strong relationships within the team and with stakeholders, addressing challenges proactively.
  • Lead recruitment, onboarding, and line management of engineers.
  • Support the professional development of other consultants.
  • Represent our client’s engineering expertise externally through blogs, workshops, seminars, and conferences.

About You

Our client is seeking a highly skilled Lead Test Engineer with strong leadership, communication, and technical expertise.

Technical Skills:

  • Proven experience in leading delivery teams to implement high-quality testing solutions.
  • Ability to coach and mentor others to achieve optimal testing outcomes.
  • Extensive experience in functional and non-functional automation testing.
  • Deep understanding of the full testing lifecycle with a track record as a QA/Test Engineer.
  • Strong skills in testing web and mobile applications, including accessibility, cross-browser/device, and usability testing.
  • Hands-on experience with testing tools such as Selenium, SpecFlow, Cucumber, Gherkin Syntax, JMeter, and K6.
  • Proficiency in Python, PyTest, and Playwright for test automation.
  • Familiarity with containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes, or similar).
  • Experience with Microservices design and architecture.
  • Strong background in RESTful API Services testing.
  • Working knowledge of Agile methodologies (Scrum, Kanban, TDD).
  • Skilled in designing and building testing frameworks for both native and web applications across different platforms.
  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as CloudFormation, Terraform, or ARM.
  • Expertise in public cloud platforms (AWS or Azure) and DevOps.
  • Hands-on experience with CI/CD tools (Jenkins, AWS CodeBuild, Azure DevOps, Atlassian).
  • Previous experience working on government or NHS projects (highly desirable).

Soft Skills:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, able to articulate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Strong leadership and team management experience.
  • A problem-solving mindset, with the ability to anticipate challenges and proactively resolve them.
