Team & Job Overview
The Digital & Technology Solutions (DTS) group under the leadership of the Chief Information Officer was established in 2023 with the mission of empowering our customers and colleagues to take on the world, by seamlessly delivering secure and reliable digital experiences. Digital & Technology Solutions has set out to achieve the following objectives for EDC:
- Define, execute, and sustain the integrated technology target state, target data model and technology operations required to enable EDC’s 2030 business transformation.
- Establish and manage the rolling 3 Year Digital Roadmap that sequences the technology outcomes required to achieve the technology target state and facilitate its execution across all domains in the organization.
- Keep pace with industry trends and emerging technologies, ensuring EDC has access to the digital technology tools it needs to stay relevant in the market and grow Canadian global trade.
- Lead and ensure integrated digital, data, infrastructure, and cybersecurity implementations to create excellent customer, user, and employee experiences.
The EDOT (Enterprise Data Operations and Technology) group under DTS significantly impacts EDC’s business operations by ensuring the enterprise data ecosystem runs smoothly and efficiently, delivering reliable and timely data to the business and supporting strategic initiatives across the organization. As part of the Enterprise Data Platform Management team under EDOT, the AI Platform Engineer will be responsible for leading the delivery of EDC’s data and AI platforms cloud infrastructure.
Working in an agile team structure, this role is at the front end of building platforms involving public clouds and modern data and analytics technologies. We are seeking an individual that has applied experience in designing and delivering data technology solutions and leading partners to achieve the best results for EDC. Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop and implement short- and long-term infrastructure solutions for diverse data and AI needs through EDC’s Public Cloud Infrastructure Platform.
- Deliver cloud infrastructure solutions that help transform our business. Solutions that are highly flexible, secure, resilient and repeatable. Processes and assets must utilize automation and remove manual work.
- Reviews system requirements and business processes; codes, tests, debugs and implements and sustains software solutions and systems.
- Conducts a wide range of quality control tests and analyses to ensure that systems meet or exceed specified standards and end-user requirements.
- Ensures that system improvements and systems tests are successfully completed and documented, all problems are resolved, and systems are successfully implemented.
- Manage Cloud-Based AI Services, overseeing cloud-based AI services and containerized environments.
- Stay Updated with AI Advancements, keep abreast of the latest developments in AI and cloud technologies, implement new tools and techniques to improve AI platform capabilities
- Design and implement automated delivery pipelines for the cloud services. Automating cloud services asset life cycle and processes (monitoring, patching, events notifications, configurations remediation, HA/DR requirements).
- Ensure Agile and DevOps best practices are applied to the delivery and security architecture standards are followed.
- Identify and document information security risks and propose mitigating controls.
- Designing technical environments for data and analytics platform that meet the needs for secure, reliability, scalability, and performance. That includes, but not limited to, configuration management, highly automated cloud architectures, systems engineering, and platform metrics analytics.
- Review and analyze the effectiveness and efficiency of existing cloud infrastructure solutions and develop strategies for improving or further leveraging these solutions.
- Developing Infrastructure as Code and Configuration as Code to automate provisioning of data and AI environments to enable experimentation, staging and production operations
Screening Criteria
- Undergraduate degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems or related discipline.
- Minimum of 7 years’ experience in IT systems development or related experience
- Minimum of 3 years’ of hands-on experience in Cloud.
- Minimum of 2 years’ of experience with building CI/CD pipelines, using Azure DevOps, Ansible, Terraform, Bicep, GitHub.
- Direct experience with Microsoft Azure and its relevant build, deployment, automation, networking, and security technologies in cloud and hybrid environments.
- Proven experience with ITIL/ITSM processes (Incident Management, Change Management, Request fulfillment)
- Microsoft AZ-104 Azure Administrator Certification
Assets
- Certified Cloud Security Professional (CCSP)
- Relevant Azure certifications such as AZ-400, AZ-500, AZ-305
- Experience in implementing security and governance frameworks
- Understanding of Azure Firewalls, DNS, VPN, VNET and NSG
- Experience with coding Restful APIs and using configuration management tools
- Implemented Infrastructure as a Code delivery pipelines
- Knowledge of Bash, Azure CLI, YAML, JSON and PowerShell
- Knowledge of containerization and applicable technologies such as Azure Kubernetes Services (AKS), Docker and Azure Container Instances (ACI)
- Experience working with vendors in a managed-service environment.
- Excellent communication skills (written, spoken, presentation)
- Bilingual in both official languages (French and English)
Compensation Details
- Platform Engineer 18: Salaries typically range from $94,664 to $126,218 annually, based on qualifications and experiences, plus a performance-based incentive.
Location
- Export Development Canada is a hybrid work environment.
- This role may be performed from EDC’s headquarters in Ottawa, or from the Community Hub in Toronto or Mississauga.
