Role Overview

We are seeking a talented Communication Specialist & Journalist to craft compelling, donor-centric content that drives fundraising, donor engagement, and event promotions. If you’re a skilled storyteller with a passion for mission-driven writing, we want to hear from you!


Responsibilities

  • Content Development – Write donor communications, impact stories, press releases, event materials, sponsorship packages, and fundraising collateral. Develop engaging narratives that highlight the nonprofit’s work and the people it serves.
  • Collaboration & Storytelling – Work closely with the Fund Development Team to tailor messaging for donor engagement. Interview beneficiaries, staff, and partners to gather firsthand stories of impact. Collaborate with the Graphic Designer and Video Editor to ensure cohesive storytelling.
  • Editing & Brand Consistency – Edit and proofread content to ensure clarity, accuracy, and alignment with brand voice. Maintain a consistent tone and messaging across all communications materials.
  • Project Management – Manage multiple writing projects simultaneously, meeting deadlines and adjusting priorities as needed. Maintain content archives and coordinate with other teams to ensure efficient content reuse.


Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in content writing, nonprofit communications, or marketing.
  • Exceptional writing, editing, and storytelling skills with a focus on journalism and technical writing.
  • Proficiency in AP Style, reverse-pyramid press releases, and nonprofit messaging best practices.
  • Experience writing donor-focused content, impact reports, and event promotions.
  • Ability to translate complex ideas into accessible, engaging language.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines.
  • Bachelor’s degree in journalism, communications, marketing, or a related field (or equivalent experience).


Nice to Haves

β€’ Experience in humanitarian aid, international development, or fundraising communications.

β€’ Familiarity with CMS, email marketing platforms, and SEO best practices.

β€’ Knowledge of basic graphic design or video production is a plus.
