What are we seeking?
We are looking for a Senior Backend Engineer with deep expertise in Rust, Postgres, and Redis, and experience in designing scalable, event-driven architectures. Our ideal candidate is also familiar with advanced cryptography and decentralized systems, with an interest in exploring how cryptographic techniques can enhance security, integrity, and trust in distributed applications. While experience with privacy-preserving technologies, secure key management, and verifiable computation is a plus, it is not a strict requirement at this stage.

Your Role
As a Senior Backend Engineer, you will:
- Architect & Build: Design and develop robust, scalable backend services using Rust (with Axum).
- Optimize Performance: Ensure high availability and performance by leveraging Postgres and Redis for efficient data management.
- Implement Event-Driven Architecture: Build scalable, resilient systems using message queues and event-driven patterns.
- Collaborate Cross-Functionally: Work closely with frontend developers, DevOps, and product managers to deliver seamless end-to-end solutions.
- Ensure Security & Reliability: Implement best practices for security, fault tolerance, and observability.
- Review & Improve: Engage in code reviews, provide and receive constructive feedback, and maintain high engineering standards.
- Stay Ahead of the Curve: Keep up with emerging backend technologies and continuously improve our architecture and processes.
We want someone who:
- Has strong expertise in Rust, with experience building backend services using Axum or similar frameworks.
- Has a deep understanding of relational databases, particularly Postgres, and experience optimizing queries for performance.
- Is proficient with Redis for caching, queues, and real-time data processing.
- Has experience designing and implementing scalable, event-driven architectures using message queues (e.g., Iggy-rs, RabbitMQ, Kafka).
- Understands best practices for API design, security, and distributed systems.
- Can work effectively both independently and within a collaborative, cross-functional team.
- Has excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
Bonus Points If You Have
- Experience with blockchain/Web3 technologies.
- Familiarity with Kubernetes and containerized deployments.
- Knowledge of Terraform and IaC
- Experience with distributed tracing and monitoring tools.
