Description

SAIC is seeking a Network Engineer to support the US Air Force Agency for Modeling and Simulation (AFAMS) program at the US Air Forces Europe / Air Forces Africa (U-A) Warfare Center (UAWC) in Kaiserslautern, Germany. AFAMS is the premier agency responsible for implementation, integration, and development of Modeling and Simulation (M&S) standards that support the US Air Force, Department of Defense, and mission partners facilitating all-domain Warfighter training across the full spectrum of conflict.

This role of this position is to support the UAWC’s physical exercise networks including, Non-Secure Internet Protocol Network (NIPRNET), Secure Internet Protocol Network (SIPRNET), Coalition and Exercise Networks, Commercial Internet, and Video Teleconferencing (VTC) systems.

The Network Engineer Senior will

  • Design, plan, build, deploy, configure, test, monitor, and maintain the UAWC's network systems and its related hardware, software, licenses, and certification.
  • Implement network upgrades, system software patching, and security compliance in accordance with Maintenance Task Orders, Information Assurance Vulnerability Management, Air Force Instructions, and UAWC policies.
  • Coordinate with UAWC IT Technical Planners to plan and complete event and exercise-related networking tasks and requests.
  • Research, analyze, recommend, and document possible resolutions or actions to resolve network issues or improve network performance.
  • Coordinate and communicate with external organizations to submit network issue tickets, diagnose the issue, and resolve the issue.
  • Monitor status of projects, prepare milestone status reports, and present status to the UAWC.

Qualifications

Required Experience/Qualifications

  • Must be a US Citizen and possess an active U.S. Secret security clearance, eligible for Top Secret / SCI
  • A bachelor’s degree plus 3 years of recent network engineering experience, OR;
    • An associate’s degree plus 7 years of recent network engineering experience, OR
    • A major certification* plus 9 years of recent network engineering experience, OR
    • 11 years of recent network engineering experience.
  • Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) or Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) Certification.
  • DoD 8570.01-M IAT Level 2 Certification.
  • Proficiency using MS Office, including Word, PowerPoint, Excel, SharePoint, Visio, and Teams.
  • Network engineer experience supporting Department of Defense networks.
  • Major certifications include CASP+, CCIE, CCISO, CCSP, CFR, CISM, CISSP, CySA+, CNP, GCED, GCFA, GCIH, GCIG, JNCIE-SEC, Google Professional Cloud Engineer, M365 Enterprise Admin Associate, M365 Modern Desktop Admin Associate, Microsoft Azure Developer Associate, Microsoft Azure Solutions Architect Expert, RCHA, RHCSA, VMware CP – Data Center
Desired Experience/Qualifications

  • Practical experience with enterprise level networking such as Cisco Call Manager, Cisco Meeting Servers, Nexus, Cisco Firewalls, Cisco DNA Center, Cisco Identity Service Engine, and Cisco Web Security Applications.
  • Experience with SolarWinds.
  • Experience with Multicast, Network Address Translation, and Virtual Route Forwarding.
  • Experience with routing protocols such as EIGRP, OSPF, and BGP.
  • Desired experience with IDOCS.
  • Desired experience with Video Teleconferencing equipment.
  • Desired experience with Virtual Infrastructure such as vSphere, vCenter, and Cisco Hyperflex.
  • Desired experience with Cisco Spine and Leaf design.

Expected Salary Range - Highly Dependent On Candidate Qualifications.

  • $90,000 - $135,000
