Scala/Java Developers to join an intensive, hands-on
Big Data Retraining Program designed to prepare engineers for high-impact roles within a leading global technology company. This program provides a unique opportunity to expand your skill set and tackle real-world, leading-edge data engineering challenges under the mentorship of Big Data professionals.
Program Overview
This 3-month educational program focuses on practical application and skill development, providing participants with the experience needed to excel in a demanding data engineering environment. Throughout the program, you'll work on projects, tackling tasks similar to those handled by our experienced engineers. Participants will be employed during the program and assigned to a client project upon completion.
After being assigned to the project, candidates should be available for at least four hours of overlap with the PST timezone, up to 12 PM PST (
9 PM Chisinau time).
Responsibilities
The program includes, but is not limited to:
- Data Ingestion and Transfer: Developing and utilizing tools for efficient data transfer from third-party sources into our platform, including binary clients and backend APIs
- Metadata Management: Implementing and managing a schema registry for dataset schemas, ensuring data integrity and consistency
- ETL Pipeline Management: Designing, developing, and managing ETL pipelines, including CRUD operations, execution, and event-driven triggers
- Data Orchestration: Building and maintaining data ingestion pipelines using orchestration tools (Airflow), incorporating data encryption and decryption, validation, and ingestion processes
- Data Monitoring and Quality: Implementing monitoring solutions to track data metrics, including but not limited to data size, object counts, and data integrity
- Collaboration and Communication: Developing essential soft skills for effective collaboration with team members and stakeholders, including engineering managers
Requirements
- Proficiency in Scala or Java
- Experience with ETL using Apache Spark or SQL
- Advanced SQL skills
- Basic knowledge of AWS or other cloud platforms
Nice to have
- Python and PySpark or Pandas experience
- Experience with Airflow or other orchestration tools
- Knowledge of Snowflake or other Data Warehouses
- Familiarity with Apache Iceberg, Flink, Druid
- Experience with Kafka or RabbitMQ
- Knowledge of relational and NoSQL databases (MySQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Cassandra, Hadoop)
- Experience with Data Lakes
- Proficiency in AWS services (EKS, IAM, S3, SNS, SQS, MSK), Docker, and Kubernetes
- Strong theoretical understanding of Big Data concepts
- Commercial experience working with clients
- A strong desire to learn and invest time in professional development
