As a Backend Engineer, you will play an important role in designing and building solutions from scratch for our trucks. You will own one, or more, large pieces of software and challenge both the already existing and upcoming software with innovative solutions.
In your day-to-day, you will be working with IoT data from electric trucks and have the chance to design test plans for the trucks. You will develop exciting projects with the latest technologies and programming languages, such as Java, Kafka, Python (using pandas and NumPy), or Scala. You will participate in daily meetings with the team to synchronize and align on progress and blockers, as well as regular touchpoints with stakeholders. The rest of the time you will be working on software – developing new features, fixing bugs, managing infrastructure, and leveraging data by working with large data streaming services, such as Kafka.
Mentorship and knowledge sharing are a huge part of our culture, and you will be expected to help more junior members with their growth and development on an ongoing basis. To ensure this, you will be part of a Retro every two weeks where you can get your kudos and give them back to your team members and talk about improvement points for the team.
We are big supporters of the 'the-best-tool-for-the-job' philosophy, where we will use whichever works best for the project. This means that within the team you will get the chance to work with the following stacks: Azure EventHubs, Azure Pipelines, Kubernetes, Kotlin with Spring Boot, PostgreSQL/TimescaleDB, Rest APIs and GraphQL APIs.
WHAT YOU WILL BRING TO THE TEAM:
- 3+ years of previous experience in backend software development;
- Knowledge of best practices in software development, such as documenting solutions, completing pull requests, and writing simple, effective code;
- Experience in driving a big piece of software, including communicating with stakeholders and designing and creating solutions for data solutions and APIs;
- Knowledge about the basics of infrastructure and networking;
- Experience in working with Java, Kafka, Python or Scala;
- A passion for data and ease with databases such as PostgreSQL and MongoDB;
- Knowledge of CI/CD;
- Experience with Kubernetes and Docker;
- Fluency in English (spoken and written).
NICE TO HAVE:
- Knowledge of streaming and batching solutions;
- Experience with Terraform; Azure, AWS or GCP; CI/CD; Deployment of Services and Databases.
