The Federal Public Prosecutor General at the Federal Court of Justice is looking for an IT administrator in the Information Technology Unit at the Karlsruhe office at the earliest possible date.

The IT architecture and infrastructure is based on Microsoft and Linux operating systems and various relational databases. In addition to Windows-based individual software, Microsoft applications are predominantly used as standard software. The authority's information technology is currently used by around 330 users.

The job advertisement is aimed at applicants who are interested in a challenging and varied job for the supreme law enforcement authority of the Federal Republic of Germany and would like to join the "Server and Network Support" team. Applications from career starters are welcome.

Your Profile

  • You have completed a relevant degree (Diplom FH or Bachelor) in computer science or a comparable subject with a focus on computer science; the advertisement is also aimed at applicants who already have equivalent skills and can demonstrate several years of professional experience in this field.
  • You have sound knowledge of the operation and administration of client-server environments in heterogeneous networks and their protocols.
  • You have experience in storage and SAN technologies as well as knowledge of scripting languages (PowerShell, Shellscript)
  • Your strengths are strong teamwork and organizational skills paired with solution-oriented thinking and judgment.
  • You have the ability and motivation to familiarize yourself with non-specialist topics and processes in a short time and have a high degree of initiative.
  • You have a very good command of written and spoken German
  • You are characterized by absolute discretion and are willing to undergo a check in accordance with the Security Check Act (SÜG).

Your area of responsibility includes in particular

  • Administration, support and monitoring of the servers including the network with connection to SAN and NAS,
  • Support of Windows, Linux, application and database servers as well as VMWare environment including data backup,
  • Creation and maintenance of documentation (operating manuals and concepts, data backup and storage concepts, inventory) and
  • Collaboration in the administration and support of the telecommunications system.
  • Occasional assistance with user support (2-level support or similar)

  • a crisis-proof job in the federal public service with a permanent employment contract based on the collective agreement for the public service with remuneration according to pay group 10 or 11 of the TVöD Bund (depending on the personal requirements),
  • a later transfer to civil servant status is generally possible in the event of above-average performance and fulfillment of the personal and factual requirements
