We’re looking for a skilled and detail-oriented back-end developer to join our agile team. This is a part-time, consulting role—ideal for someone who thrives in an efficient, collaborative environment and enjoys working on meaningful, technical challenges. You’ll work closely with our front-end lead to refine infrastructure, optimize performance, and ensure scalability as we expand our AI-driven features.

About the Role

As a Back-End Developer at Oromoon, you’ll be responsible for building and maintaining the back-end architecture that powers our AI-driven astrology insights. Your work will be essential in ensuring our API performance, cloud infrastructure, and security are optimized as we scale.

You will:

• Develop & maintain our back-end infrastructure using Node.js & MongoDB
• Optimize API performance for efficiency and scalability
• Ensure security & stability as the platform grows
• Collaborate closely with the front-end lead to integrate features smoothly
• Manage cloud infrastructure costs (AWS preferred, Firebase experience a plus)
• Troubleshoot & resolve back-end challenges efficiently
• Support AI-driven feature development, including personalized horoscopes, transit analysis, and moon phase tracking
• Bonus: If you enjoy problem-solving, we have a complex natal chart bug that could use your expertise

What You Bring

• 5+ years of software engineering experience, with a track record of building and delivering high-quality mobile applications.
• 1-2+ years of experience developing scalable production software
• Proficiency in Node.js & MongoDB
• Experience with AWS (Firebase is a plus)
• Ability to optimize cloud costs for efficiency
• Proven experience building scalable back-end systems for mobile apps
• Excellent command of engineering fundamentals
• Detail-oriented, with a focus on clean, scalable, and secure code
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
• Clear communication & ability to work independently

Preferred Candidates Will Have:

• Experience with AI-powered applications
• Familiarity with cloud budgeting tools & cost-saving strategies
