This is a high-impact leadership role responsible for developing and implementing security strategies, ensuring compliance, mitigating risks, and scaling security operations at Talent.com.
The Head of IT & Cybersecurity will report directly to the CTO and will work closely with engineering, finance, legal, and compliance teams to ensure a secure IT infrastructure. The ideal candidate will have deep technical expertise, strong business acumen, and the ability to scale security programs in a fast-paced environment.
This position requires a player-coach mentality—balancing hands-on execution with high-level strategy.
What You’ll Do:
1. IT Infrastructure & Cloud Security
• Oversee security operations across AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud environments.
• Implement zero-trust architecture, network segmentation, and access controls.
• Partner with engineering teams to integrate secure coding and DevSecOps best practices into the development pipeline.
2. Cybersecurity Compliance & Governance
• Develop and maintain compliance with ISO 27001, SOC 2, GDPR, and NIST security frameworks.
• Create and enforce IT security policies, data protection strategies, and risk mitigation plans.
• Lead security audits and certification processes to meet regulatory requirements.
3. Incident Response & Threat Mitigation
• Develop and implement incident response plans, threat detection strategies, and breach mitigation protocols.
• Lead forensic investigations and proactively identify security vulnerabilities before they become critical risks.
• Establish data loss prevention strategies, encryption standards, and security automation tools.
4. Stakeholder Engagement & Board-Level Security Oversight
• Present quarterly security updates and risk assessments to the CTO and executive leadership team.
• Serve as a thought leader in AI security, compliance, and data privacy, ensuring responsible AI governance.
• Educate internal teams on cybersecurity best practices, threat awareness, and compliance standards.
5. Team Leadership & Security Program Growth
• Assess the current security and IT team structure, identify gaps, and create a hiring roadmap.
• Mentor and develop internal security engineers and IT professionals to build a scalable security function.
• Develop cost-effective security strategies that align with business objectives and resource constraints.
What You Bring:
• 10+ years of experience in cybersecurity, IT security leadership, and compliance management.
• Strong technical expertise in cloud security, network security, and infrastructure security architecture.
• Proven experience in incident response, forensic investigations, and threat intelligence operations.
• Hands-on knowledge of compliance frameworks including SOC 2, ISO 27001, GDPR, and NIST.
• Experience leading security audits, risk assessments, and governance initiatives.
• Ability to translate security risks into business recommendations for executive teams.
• Prior experience scaling IT security operations within startups or high-growth technology companies.
Preferred Skills & Experience
• Experience in both startup and enterprise environments to balance security needs with scalability.
• Industry-recognized certifications such as CISSP, CISM, CISA, AWS Security Specialty.
• Familiarity with AI security, data protection for machine learning models, and governance of AI-driven products.
• Proven ability to scale security programs and develop cybersecurity talent within a fast-growing company.
