Job Title: Product Design Engineering Leader

Location: On-site in the Kenosha, Wisconsin Area

Position Brief:

The Chatham Group: Advanced Materials and Technologies Recruiting Team is seeking qualified candidates for the role of New Product Design Leader for a client involved in the cutting edge protective pains and coatings industry. The ideal candidate will have experience in the conceptualization, design and implementation of new product initiatives in the paints and coatings space. These products can include applicator technologies, advanced spray nozzles, packaging, and more. Experience with design software such as AutoDesk/AutoCAD for use in prototyping for consumer and commercial use is necessary for this role. Candidate experience with plastic and polymer injection molding processes is also preferable. We are seeking candidates with a background in Mechanical or Materials Engineering who have 3+ years of experience with new product design, production tooling design, and prototyping.

Responsibilities:

• Manage new product design projects in alignment with company objectives in multiple product categories for consumer and commercial markets
• Supervise and manage a small team of Design Engineers and Production Engineers
• Engage in customer and market research to lead insight-driven product development initiatives
• Prototype and rigorously test new product designs to ensure high functionality, quality, and overall market viability
• Work in cross-functional groups that involve the Engineering, Marketing, Research and Development, and Product Management teams
• Establish and maintain relationships with necessary third-party testing firms
• Spearhead overall product design into paint and protective coatings delivery systems and packaging
• Maintain a database of engineering drawings for new product prototypes and necessary tooling

Qualifications:

• BS Degree or MS Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, or Materials Engineering
• 3+ years of experience in New Product Development Engineering with a focus on prototyping and product testing
• Comprehensive understanding of material selection and manufacturing processes for products in paints and coatings applications industry
• High proficiency in 3D CAD and modeling software for part modeling, drawing, and assembly
• Experience working with tooling manufacturers to create components that cannot be made in house
• Demonstrable results and excellence in solving design problems with innovative solutions
• Ability to lead small teams through out new product design from project inception through market launch
