3rd Line Network Support Engineer (Wireless ISP Experience Essential)

Location: Remote (South Africa-based)

Employment Type: Seasonal (March – November) with potential for contract-permanent

Salary: R45 000 per month

Working Hours: March – October: 12-hour shifts, 4 days on / 4 days off, 8am – 8pm. Off-season: project work and maintenance.


The Role

We are looking for an experienced Wireless ISP Network Engineer to join our support team, ensuring network stability and high performance for customers. You will be responsible for 3rd line support, troubleshooting Wi-Fi, Point-to-Point (PtP), and Wide Area Networks (WAN), while monitoring performance and ensuring uptime.

During the off-season, you will focus on network upgrades, maintenance, and assisting field engineers to enhance infrastructure. This role is ideal for someone passionate about wireless technology, network performance, and problem-solving in a fast-paced environment.


Key Responsibilities

  • Support and troubleshoot wireless networks (WAN, LAN, WLAN, PtP, PtMP).
  • Diagnose and resolve customer connectivity issues (RADIUS, billing, authentication).
  • Configure and maintain guest access portals, authentication services, and network monitoring tools.
  • Identify and resolve recurring network issues, improving overall performance and stability.
  • Assist with Wi-Fi network design, installations, structured cabling, and radio links.
  • Act as an escalation point for site operator issues and major network incidents.
  • Mentor junior engineers and collaborate with field teams.
  • Provide on-call support as needed.


What You Need

  • 5+ years’ experience in a Wireless ISP or MSP network support environment.
  • Expertise in Wi-Fi, PtP/PtMP radio links, structured cabling, and network architecture.
  • Hands-on experience with Cambium, Ubiquiti, Mikrotik, and Draytek.
  • Strong knowledge of IP networking, routing, VPNs, and subnetting.
  • Experience using Wi-Fi surveys and network monitoring tools (PRTG, NMS, The Dude, or similar).
  • Relevant certifications preferred (CWNA, CCNA, Network+, Ekahau Design, or similar).
  • Proficiency in Excel and automation for reporting and troubleshooting.
