Senior Python Engineer in United States

Our client is seeking a Senior Python Developer – a true Python Developer (not a Data Engineer, not a Quant Researcher), a Python Engineer with backend systems, infrastructure, and optimization experience. You will be joining the Quantitative Engineering Data Group. You will be developing and enriching data feeds for Quant researchers so they can do statistical analysis.

Looking for:

5 years of professional experience developing software and data systems, or advanced graduate work. Fluency in at least one low level language (C++, C#, Java) and one higher level language (Python, Lisp, Matlab, Julia). The preference is Python and C++.

• Strong understanding of data structures and algorithms, and operating systems concepts
• Facility working with large object-oriented code bases, using multiple languages and tools
• Experience building large scale data transformation pipelines
• Enthusiasm for working with data, especially large sets of data, automating operations. Good aesthetics for cleanliness and correctness in data
• Experience in Linux shell environment and with text processing tool chains, Windows development platform experience a plus
• Experience with some higher level data analysis/manipulations languages/tools (R, Pandas, Julia)
• Excellent analytical and communication skills
• An interest in large scale computing problems and solutions, and understanding of performance trade-offs is plus
• Experience in a data or compute intensive role required

For this position, preference to candidates with computational degrees, e.g., PhD in Computational Biology, or Computational Chemistry, or another science, candidates that love technology and research, and are Python developers that enjoy working with data ( not ETL, not big data).
