Radio Access Network Engineer in SOUTH AFRICA

As of current the Telco industry in South Africa is picking up in momentum by the day and the by-product from this activity is an actively hiring industry. In Bloemfontein one of my Clients is in need for RAN Engineers with a solid and reliable technical background in RF/RAN. Experienced at working at heights (preferably towers) and site installation, troubleshooting and commissioning.


The project is not providing relocation assistance however, should your application be successful you would need to arrange transport to Bloemfontein and find accommodation for yourself for at least the duration of the contract. Rates on basic salaries are market related and with possibility of renewal to a 3 month contract are on offer for this position.


Responsibilities

  • The RAN Engineer’s role will involve supervising ASP installations specifically covering, RF/RAN and TX fault-finding e.g., VSWR, sector swaps, tilts, replacing connectors, RF cabling, IF cabling, swapping rectifier modules,
  • Install and correct SAM environmental alarms, integration and testing on the Radio Access Network and Transmission Network.
  • Test equipment knowledge – site master, PIN tester, optic fibre power meter, E1 tester, fibre light source
  • Perform preventative maintenance on RF/RAN & MW sites.
  • Perform Quality measures and Audits.
  • Oversee and identify the possible risks that may affect H&S, workflow, quality, performance, etc, and must report all risks identified on time in the proper means of communication to urgency.


Experience on the following

  • RBS 6000 Installation
  • RBS 6000 (2G/3G/LTE) script loading, alarm clearance, Fault finding
  • Preventative maintenance on RF/RAN & MW sites.
  • Transmission knowledge (preferable)
  • RF installation
  • RF Fault Finding
  • RF Testing (VSWR/DTF etc.)
  • Civil background and Civil Quality
  • Technical Site Surveys + TSSR
  • OHS


Knowledge and Skills

  • Good understanding of Mobile and Wireless Networks.
  • Basic Network level competence.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to learn Client's Portfolio.
  • Understand Service Delivery Process.
  • Understand Change Management.
  • Presentation skills (oral and written).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft office
  • Software/Hardware Support


You will join a team that is already in the field as of current, but as the project expands more hands are required with RAN knowledge.
