Junior SEO copywriter (freelance, remote) in UNITED KINGDOM

Remote 7 months ago

luna is the world’s first digital health and wellbeing companion for teens, think of us like a digital big sister in your pocket.

Teens love us and parents trust us.

Founded by two Oxford MBAs, we launched in November 2022 and already have over 120,000 super engaged teens using the platform.

We’re a small but mighty team with big ambitions to grow across the UK this year and then go global (even though we're in 184 countries already - we want to make this official!).

We’re backed by some of the UK’s top Venture Capital Funds (Octopus & Syndicate Room) and Angels, and have been featured in publications such as Hello, Cosmopolitan, Grazia and the i newspaper.

We have also been App of the day 3 times, a TechCrunch Disrupt finalist and were the front of Apple's International Women's Day Campaign in 2023.

We’re female founded and led, and are on a mission to be the first to disrupt a massive untapped market: teen health and wellbeing.

About the role:

We’re looking for a Junior SEO Copywriter to help optimise parent blog articles on our website as part of a key content project at luna.

You’ll work directly with luna’s Content Lead, to refine and optimise our existing articles, ensuring they rank well on search engines and provide valuable, engaging content for parents.

This role is ideal for someone who is a strong writer and editor with an understanding of SEO best practices.

You should be confident editing, restructuring, and optimising articles while also creating lightweight visual assets (using Canva) that can improve the reader experience and surface in Google Image results.

If you’re a jack-of-all-trades with an eye for writing, editing, SEO, and assets, and love making information clear, engaging, and accessible, we’d love to hear from you!

What you'll do:

Work with our Content Lead to…

  • Optimise existing blog content for SEO – improve structure with proper H1s, H2s, bullet points, and numbered lists to boost readability and search visibility
  • Create simple graphics using Canva (or whatever you prefer) – design basic assets that enhance articles and increase Google Image search discoverability (e.g. comparison tables, product illustrations, explainer images)
  • Add relevant stats – either insights we’ve gathered as part of luna community polls, or from our database of stats which our medical team have sourced
  • Ensure strong keyword coverage – refine the copy to naturally integrate target keywords
  • Edit and refine content – polish sentence structure, grammar, and overall readability as needed, bearing in mind the audience (parents) and overall tone

Who we're looking for:

  • A confident writer and editor – excellent spelling, grammar, and ability to refine and structure content effectively
  • SEO-savvy – understands on-page SEO and content formatting, and search intent
  • Creative thinker – can improve content visually and structure information in a way that resonates with parents
  • Canva/design skills are a huge plus – comfortable creating simple but effective assets to enrich articles and increase Google Image ranking
  • Proactive – someone who can spot something that needs doing and just does it, or notices an opportunity and comes with a plan to try/test it out
  • A self-starter – able to take ownership and work independently; whilst we can’t hand-hold you through this role, we’ll always be there for you to check-in, answer questions and unblock things for you
  • Hard worker - we all really believe in our mission at luna so all give 110% every single day - if this doesn't sound like you, then please don't apply for this role - it's just not fair on the team who are so committed!

Desirable skills:

  • Canva (or similar design tool) experience for creating simple blog visuals
  • Strong copy editing and content structuring skills
  • Familiarity with Google Search best practices and how content surfaces online

Hours & commitment:

  • 1 day per week needed (8 hours) across 4 weeks to begin (this time can be spread throughout the week if needed)*
  • Fully remote – work from anywhere

*Possibility to extend this contract based on project success and any additional requirements

How to apply:

  1. Send your CV to recruitment@weareluna.app, plus any examples of your work would also be fab to help you illustrate any relevant experience you have
  2. Make sure to also include your availability in your email – what days you can work, times, and when you would be available to start
  3. Please include your day / hour rate too
  4. We’ll review all applications, and selected candidates will then be needed for a 30 min intro call for our Content Lead to meet you and go through any questions you have
  5. You’ll receive a short test to complete (this will be timed so it’s nothing too intense, and we’ll discuss when works best for you in terms of deadlines)

At luna, we’re committed to building a diverse and inclusive community. Whatever someone’s background, experience or identity, we make sure everyone has equal opportunities and feels supported.
