Regional IT Manager

Department: Information Technology (Corporate).

Contract type: Indefinite (permanent) contract.

Hours: 36 hours per week, Monday to Friday.

Pay band: 8

Salary: £38,820 - £46,203 plus £3,300 London Market Allowance for those in the London area only.

Location of Role: London, Cardiff, Manchester, Edinburgh or Belfast Only. (The UK).

The Team

The Digital and Technology Directorate leads the British Council’s digital strategy and transformation. It creates and executes technology initiatives to fulfil the organisation’s mission and corporate priorities.

Key Focus Areas Are

  • Creating digital products that attract and retain customers, delivering business value through digital design and delivery expertise.
  • Developing and optimising digital platforms that provide seamless customer interactions and use scalable and secure capabilities.
  • Enhancing digital capability across the organisation.
  • Enabling growth, impact and efficiency through technology.

Digital and Technology is a global Directorate organised into four divisions: Product, Engineering, Operations and Performance which collectively create digital products and services, maintain, and improve products, services and platforms and optimise performance. Areas of responsibility include digital and technology strategy, architecture, infrastructure, software, development, data, innovation, and cybersecurity. It ensures that technology initiatives are customer and value focused, accessible, efficient, and secure.

The Operations division is accountable for the continuing delivery of secure, performant enterprise platforms and applications and the connectivity and modern workplace environment to access those platforms. This is achieved through partnerships with external suppliers and delivery through ITIL based processes. The unit is also responsible for transitioning new products and services into the live environment. It interfaces across the Digital and Technology departments, Suppliers and Managed Services.

The Role

As Regional IT Manager you will be the link between Digital and Technology (D&T) and IT staff in countries within one or more regions. You will ensure the delivery in country is aligned to D&T policies, processes and standards whilst meeting the local needs.

Accountabilities

Leadership & management

  • Management of the community of local IT staff within the allocated regions.
  • Ensuring delivery of incident support, service request delivery and change delivery allocated to the local IT Support Staff, monitoring queues, tracking management information and performance against SLAs and continually driving improvement.
  • Recruitment of local IT Support staff in line with D&T and local requirements
  • Enforcing policies and processes adherence at a local level
  • Contributing to local policies, processes and contracts
  • Assuring compliance with D&T and IGRM policies and standards

Relationship and Stakeholder management

  • Building a community of practice along with the other Regional IT Managers for the local IT Support community
  • Through a strong relationship with the Engagement Managers, ensuring that new demands from countries are appropriately channelled through the D&T demand process.
  • Woking closely with Global Estates Project team to ensure forward sight of local and regional changes
  • Providing a link between local technology operations and IGRM for assurance of policy adherence

Commercial and/or financial Management

  • Management of supplier delivery as appropriate for the regions managed.

Professional services expertise

  • In conjunction with Global Estates, local staff and D&T Delivery Leads where appropriate, coordinating the delivery of technology change for local and regional premises projects.

Requirements Of The Role

  • Managing people (Level 4) Leads a large and varied team - Manages a substantial group to deliver annual business objectives. The team includes different professions, cultures and/or areas of business, and may cover multiple locations.
  • Managing Projects – Level 3 - Leads smaller projects Analyses requirements with the sponsor/stakeholders, defining the specification with awareness of equality and diversity impact, planning, revising, implementing and evaluating on small-to-medium scale and/or low risk projects.
  • Significant experience with Supplier Management
