Backend Engineer
The Payments Engineering Area is hiring! Payments Engineering is responsible for building the best payment customer experience from a payment page perspective and improving the offering of payment options on brands and markets that we operate within. We are an international team with some of the best people in the industry! You will be part of a passionate team, which is building an industry-leading, scalable, multi-brand payment platform to support 40+ online brands and 100+ payment integrations! Our brands are used by hundreds of thousands of users and growing.
Requirements
- Design, develop, and maintain scalable and reliable server-side applications using the .NET framework and related technologies.
- Willingness to learn C#.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including front-end developers, product managers, and designers, to understand requirements and translate them into technical specifications.
- Develop and implement efficient and secure RESTful APIs and microservices to support client applications and integrations.
- Strong understanding of object-oriented programming (OOP) principles and design patterns.
- Write clean, testable, maintainable, and well-documented code following software development best practices and coding standards.
- Perform thorough testing and debugging of backend applications to ensure high quality and reliability.
- Optimize application performance and scalability through code optimisations, caching strategies, and database optimisations.
- Proficiency in SQL databases both in writing queries and optimizing performance
- Understanding of software development best practices, including code reviews, unit testing, continuous integration and delivery pipelines.
- Participate in code reviews to ensure code quality, adherence to architectural guidelines, and best practices.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to debug and resolve complex issues.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues reported by users or identified through monitoring and logging systems.
- Effective communication skills in English, both verbal and written, with the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
- Stay updated with the latest trends, tools, and technologies in backend development and actively contribute to improving development processes and efficiency.
Nice to have:
- Experience with cloud platforms such as Microsoft Azure or Amazon Web Services (AWS).
- Strong background in backend development, with experience in languages such as C#, Python, Go, Java, or similar.
- Knowledge of NoSQL, PostgreSQL, and SQL Server databases.
- Experience in the design and implementation of distributed systems that comprise of multiple domain-oriented services.
- Understanding of front-end development technologies, including HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
- Familiarity with version control systems, preferably Git.
- Familiarity with containerization technologies like Docker and orchestration tools like Kubernetes.
- We don’t expect you to be an expert in all these technologies but would anticipate an experience with some combined with a curiosity for others: etcd, Consul, Redis, Apache Kafka, RabbitMQ, gRPC, Orleans.
