About your role
Role
In this role you will take a comprehensive approach to data analysis from dataset design to data visualizing and presenting findings to drug product development teams. It involves, e.g.:
- Discussing with product developers to understand their aims and planning experimental design.
- Instructing on how data needs to be recorded and performing data wrangling.
- Designing and testing data analysis strategies.
- Creating data analysis solutions that enable data-driven decision making.
- Collaborating with internal clients to design solutions that meet their expectations and presenting the solutions to the end users and teams.
Some Examples Of Typical Tasks Include
- Visualizing data in our BI tool (Spotfire), such as evolution of amorphous content or impurities of drug substance during stability studies.
- Developing a model to predict the effect of granulation parameters on granule size distribution.
- Conducting data analysis on drug substance particle size and its effect on tablet quality attributes to guide specification setting for drug substance particle size.
- Documenting such work and sharing it with team members.
Your Key Responsibilities
- Creating designs of experiments.
- Conducting data analysis for projects and researchers.
- Designing practices and solutions for data visualization to stakeholders.
- Developing and implementing data analysis solutions, predictive models, and algorithms to support drug product development.
- Standardizing, automating and maintaining recurring data processing and analysis procedures.
- Researching and testing new data analysis methods in the field of pharmaceutics.
The location for the role is Espoo and we will support relocation to Finland. You can work flexibly in a hybrid model in accordance with Orion’s relevant guidelines.

- An applicable university level degree.

Unit Description
Orion’s pharmaceutical innovations are created within its R&D organization. We employ around 400 top professionals in the field of drug discovery and development. We work globally: in Espoo and Turku in Finland, in Nottingham in England and in New York, NY, USA. Orion R&D and the Innovative Medicines business division are dedicated to making a transformation to become a global player in the pain and oncology therapy areas.
Computational Pharmaceutics is a small team of data-oriented experts situated in the department of Pharmaceutical Sciences in Orion Pharma R&D. Our department develops the drug products and their quality control methods for non-clinical and clinical studies. We generate data on the chemical, physical, physicochemical and manufacturing-related parameters and properties of raw materials and products, such as tablets. The Computational Pharmaceutics team supports the drug development process by creating valuable insights from the data and by providing solutions for data-related challenges in pharmaceutics. We collaborate with a network of experts of drug product and drug substance development, data engineers and data scientists, statisticians, and information management professionals at Orion.
