Position Overview:
Make It Urs is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Web Designer with expertise in Shopify and WordPress to create visually compelling, accessible, and high-performing websites. You will play a critical role in designing and developing websites that not only look great but also meet ADA compliance standards to ensure inclusivity for all users.

Responsibilities:
- Design and develop custom websites on Shopify and WordPress (Elementor)
- Build and optimize e-commerce platforms, ensuring smooth product setup, payment integration, and mobile responsiveness
- Ensure all websites meet WCAG 2.1 guidelines and ADA compliance standards, implementing best practices for accessibility
- Implement accessibility features, such as proper heading structure, alt text, ARIA labels, keyboard navigation, and color contrast
- Customize Shopify themes and WordPress templates to align with brand aesthetics and functional needs
- Perform accessibility audits and adjust designs to improve usability for all users
- Collaborate with content creators and project managers to maintain cohesive brand storytelling across digital platforms
- Stay updated on the latest trends in Shopify, WordPress, Elementor, and web accessibility
Required Skills:
- Minimum 5 years of experience in web design and development
- Advanced proficiency in Shopify and WordPress development (Elementor expertise required)
- Experience with WooCommerce for e-commerce solutions
- Strong understanding of ADA compliance & WCAG 2.1 guidelines for web accessibility
- Experience implementing accessibility features such as screen reader compatibility, contrast adjustments, and navigational improvements
- Proficiency in front-end development (HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript)
- Mobile-first design approach and responsive design best practices
- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities
Preferred Skills:
- Certification in web accessibility (e.g., IAAP CPACC or similar)
- Experience with accessibility testing tools (Wave, AXE, Lighthouse, or NVDA screen reader)
- Familiarity with Shopify Liquid for custom theme development
- Experience with SEO best practices
- Back-end familiarity (PHP, MySQL) for advanced WordPress customization
