The Role

Mount Isa Mines have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Network Engineer to join our George Fisher Mine operations. This role would report into the Superintended Electrical, and you will support our underground mining operations at George Fisher Mine. This is a residential position based in Mount Isa, working a 9 days on, 5 days off roster.

Your key responsibilities include:

  • Design, management, and support of Cisco and other LAN campus and data centre networks
  • Design, management, and support of Wireless infrastructure
  • Design, management, and support of Active directory domain.
  • Design, management, and support of VMWare ESXi
  • Management and support of HPE Hardware
  • Management and support of OEM OT Systems
  • Management and support of OT Security
  • Management and support of OT backups
  • End user support
  • Management of WAN links
  • Configuration and maintenance of network documentation and monitoring tools (SolarWinds, Cisco DNA Centre)
  • Firewall management and support
  • Carrier and vendor management
  • Scope, management, and installation of network projects
  • Working with Regional and Global Business
  • Contribute to the 5 year CAPEX planning cycle and IT Infrastructure roadmap

The successful applicants will have:

  • Degree/s in Information Technology or equivalent will be highly regarded
  • Cisco Certifications (CCNA, CCNP routing, switching and wireless)
  • A team player who is self-driven and motivated
  • Ability to adapt to, learn, and implement new technologies
  • Excellent knowledge of Cisco Catalyst, Nexus and Wireless hardware
  • Experience with Active directory
  • Experience with VMWare
  • Experience with Fortinet infrastructure
  • Experience with tools such as SolarWinds and Cisco DNA Centre
  • Excellent written and verbal communication
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in a similar role
  • Open manual driver’s license

It will also be beneficial if you have:

  • Experience with SIP based PBX systems and equipment
  • Experience with MECM
  • Experience with Symantec Endpoint Protection
  • Experience with Mikrotik
  • Programming and SQL knowledge
  • ACMA Cable registration
  • Mine site experience
  • Experience with fixed wireless (Licensed, unlicensed, PTP and PMP)
