Functional Technical Analyst (relocation to Belgium) in PORTUGAL

We are looking for an experienced Technical Functional Analyst willing to relocate and join our Client’s team in Brussels, Belgium.

This role is part of a dynamic Agile squad responsible for delivering a Dashboarding product that provides critical oversight to customers on their Investment products. The squad is multi-disciplinary, working collaboratively in an Agile Scrum context for fast-paced delivery and continuous improvement of valuable solutions. The role requires a candidate with strong technical and analytical skills who can handle complex system landscapes and thrive in a collaborative, results-driven environment.

We are seeking an experienced Functional Analyst with Agile experience to:

• Deliver business specifications, functional analysis, and user story definitions.
• Ensure the squad’s Java middleware applications meet high standards in responsivity, availability, and reliability.
• Manage complex application interactions and drive the maintenance and enhancement of the squad’s high-performing applications.
• Identify and mitigate dependencies and risks while maintaining strong alignment with squads and stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:

Primary Activities (Do):

• Define business specifications and refine user stories.
• Create and deliver comprehensive functional analysis documents.
• Define processes and align with multiple stakeholders.
• Identify application dependencies and manage risk mitigation strategies.
• Develop the release strategy and contribute to the test strategy definition.

Participatory Activities:

• Assist with defining the squad's change approach.
• Ensure the solution aligns with architecture, legal, and compliance requirements.
• Collaborate on high-quality development, testing, and documentation standards.

Challenges of the Role:

• Managing large-scale Java middleware applications utilized as integration points by other banking systems, requiring high standards of availability, responsiveness, and reliability.
• Navigating a complex application landscape, with multiple interactions requiring a clear understanding of technical dependencies.
• Delivering solutions that adhere to strict standards for development, documentation, and testing in a cross-disciplinary agile environment.

Technical Environment

The ideal candidate will have familiarity with the following technical stack:

• Java 8, Spring Framework 4/Spring Boot, Kafka, Flink, Cucumber/Gherkin, JUnit, Lombok.
• REST API libraries like HttpEntity/ResponseEntity (experience with any REST library is beneficial).
• Maven (build tool), Java SQL Library, lightweight Groovy scripting for Jenkins pipelines.
• DevOps tools: Jenkins, Git, IntelliJ, Wiremock, Octane (for implementing Cucumber tests).

Mandatory Requirements:

• Hands-on knowledge of development languages commonly used in the domain (e.g., Java).
• Strong understanding of architecture (hardware, OS, networking, databases, middleware).
• Experience with methods, standards, security procedures, and development tools.
• Proven ability to work collaboratively in an Agile Scrum environment.
