Python Developer/Data Engineer - WFH/Remote

About the Role

As we expand our research and development (R&D) and security operations, we are seeking a Full Stack Developer to join our dynamic team. The position will support key initiatives set for 2025, working on cutting-edge cloud infrastructure and security operations projects

Team Structure

You will work closely with the client’s CTO and a highly skilled development team based in Michigan and other global locations. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the company’s cloud-based initiatives, with a focus on both backend and frontend development.

What You Will Be Doing

• Design and build scalable applications using Python (Flask/FastAPI) for backend.
• Cloud Infrastructure Management: Manage and optimize AWS-hosted applications, utilizing services like EC2, Lambda, S3, and EMR to ensure robust, scalable systems.
• API Development: Develop and maintain REST APIs to facilitate data interactions between the front and back end.
• Big Data Processing: Use tools such as Apache Spark, AWS EMR, and ETL processes for handling, processing, and transforming large datasets.
• Data Warehousing: Contribute to the design and maintenance of data warehousing solutions for efficient data storage and retrieval.
• Security Integration: Collaborate with the Security Operations team to integrate security measures into the cloud infrastructure and applications.
• Collaboration: Work closely with the R&D and development teams to align project goals, execute tasks, and deliver high-quality solutions.

Qualifications:

Experience:

• Minimum 5 years of full stack development experience using Python.
• Strong expertise in AWS services, including cloud optimization and performance management.
• Solid experience in API development (RESTful APIs).
• Proficiency with Docker for containerized applications and deployment in AWS environments.
• Experience with big data frameworks like Spark and EMR for data manipulation and ETL processes.
• Familiarity with data warehousing concepts and tools.
• Knowledge of UI development principles is a plus, though there is a dedicated UI expert on the team.

Soft Skills:

• Strong communication skills, particularly in English.
• Ability to work independently while collaborating with a remote team.
• Strong problem-solving skills and adaptability to fast-paced environments.

Technology Stack:

• Backend: Python (Flask, FastAPI)
• Cloud: AWS (EC2, Lambda, EMR, S3)
• Database: Experience with relational and NoSQL databases within AWS
• DevOps Tools: Docker, CI/CD pipelines
• Big Data Tools: Spark, EMR for large-scale data processing

Good to have: Front End Tech Stack exposure
