Senior Cyber Security Specialist in SWITZERLAND

The Bank for International Settlements, BIS is looking for a Senior Security Specialist to join our Security Engineering and Architecture team within Corporate Security.

This role is based in Basel, however, thanks to our status as an international organization, we can hire globally and welcome applications from candidates of all nationalities and located anywhere in the world. Relocation support is available for the successful candidate and their dependent family members.

Purpose of the role:

Our mission is to support central banks' pursuit of monetary and financial stability through international partnership and to act as a bank for central banks.

You will support this mission by joining a dedicated group of cyber security professionals from around the world who are committed to ensuring the security of the Bank.

Your role in the team will be to: support and enhance the Bank's cyber security solutions, provide expert advice on matters relating to cyber risk, oversee the lifecycle management of cyber security solutions, and ensure security-by-design in new projects.

• · Drive continuous improvement and innovation by implementing security-by-design and automation projects in collaboration with our security, IT, and risk management teams.

Principal accountabilities:

Join our team to drive the Bank's security objectives through dynamic engineering activities:

• · Lead all aspects of the lifecycle management of security solutions, including upgrades, replacements, and retirements.
• · Perform routine maintenance and enhance security solutions with automation, integration, and custom configurations.
• · Provide strategic advice on security architecture and engineering to Corporate Security and the wider Bank.
• · Run and enhance cyber security tools such as SIEM, SOAR, IAM, and vulnerability management systems.
• · Implement new tools and ensure seamless integration and automation across platforms.
• · Ensure security-by-design in major projects and strategic initiatives, both on-premises and in the cloud.
• · Collaborate Bank wide to effectively manage the Bank's cyber risk.
• · Align security practices with established standards, policies, and architectures.
• · Acting in an on-call support capacity for cyber security systems as required (typically one week in four).

Qualifications, skills, and experience:

• · University degree or equivalent gained through industry experience in a relevant discipline.
• · Platform knowledge and experience with Windows or Linux (ideally both), including troubleshooting, integration, and break-fix support.
• · Strong understanding of security architecture and engineering concepts for on-premises and hybrid-cloud infrastructures.
• · Broad technical expertise with a focus on contemporary security topics.
• · Ability to automate using scripting, with strong skills in Python and/or other major programming languages (e.g., PowerShell, Java).
• · Proficiency in Microsoft Azure and Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform would be beneficial.
• · Experience in leveraging APIs and using version control and configuration management tools (e.g., git, GitHub, Ansible) is highly desirable.
• · Commitment to continuous education and technical learning.
• · Strong analytical and documentation skills.
• · Ability to collaborate well in a team and to work independently as required.
• · Willingness to work on call as required.
• · Fluency in English.
