We are looking for an experienced Data Centre Administrator to join our IT team based in our brand-new facility in Libin, in the beautiful area of the Belgian Ardennes.

In this role, you will oversee data centre operations, ensuring the seamless performance of business-critical systems. Therefore, you will need a deep understanding of all aspects of the data centre environment, including infrastructure design, operations, and lifecycle management for both physical and virtual data centre assets. Your responsibilities will span multiple IT disciplines, requiring knowledge of hardware, software, and the business’ requirements for computing resources.


Tasks and Activities

The scope of work will include:

  • Analysing and determining the appropriate layout for all equipment in the data centre. On-going retirement and addition of new hardware and an understanding of the electrical, load balancing and cooling needs of the equipment.
  • Keeps documentation up-to-date and responsible for capacity planning to ensure the facility meets current and expected power and cooling requirements.
  • Track all data centre assets and experience with data centre infrastructure management (DCIM) and other software tools to assist with that effort.
  • Assist various departments in installations and removal of data centre hardware as per requirement.
  • Create policies and procedures to ensure Data centre compliance to various standards. ISO9001, ISO27001, NIS2, GDPR, etc.
  • Responsible for administering building network systems, software and hardware. (core/distribution/access networks, Wi-Fi, security infrastructure and environmental monitoring)
  • Responsible for security patching, updates and upgrades to various data centre operations equipment.
  • Manage and provide ongoing internal support to various infrastructure teams related to operations housed in the data centre. Hands and eyes support, troubleshooting, crash cart, etc.
  • Responsible for third-party software and hardware vendor relationships.
  • Manage systems maintenance, business support coverage and troubleshooting.
  • Maintain, develop and support data centre continuity strategies, including device spares, refresh strategy, high availability design and disaster recovery solutions.
  • Supporting local user base by providing end-user desktop support, troubleshooting desktop, printer, and performance related issues, including MS Windows, MS Office, and desktop driver support.


Skills and Experience

The following skills and experience are mandatory:

  • University Degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, or in related discipline; alternatively, equivalent professional experience.
  • At least 5 years proven experience in system administration, including hardware and infrastructure management.
  • Experience in leading technical projects from beginning to completion.
  • Well-rounded technical skillset.
  • Good understanding of data privacy in general.
  • Knowledge in the following key skills:

-Data Centre Infrastructure Management (DCIM) software.

-Infrastructure and system monitoring software or solutions.

-TCP/IP, sub netting, Routing, VPN, DNS, Layer 2,3,4 switching, VLAN, Qos, DHCP, VOIP, virtualized networking, UTM and security.

-Windows Server, Linux and VMware.

-Power Distribution, UPS and Backup Generator monitoring and scheduled maintenance.

-Firewalls and VPN.

-Network load balancing.

-Wireless protocols, AP’s and security.

-Server hardware installation, cabling and documentation.

-Ticketing system experience, logging, troubleshooting and problem resolution.

  • Demonstrated leadership, project management and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to communicate complex technical topics to non-technical people effectively.
  • Desire to work both autonomously and as part of a team, in an international multicultural environment.
  • Solution oriented mindset, with a customer focused communication skill.
  • Fluent in English, both written and spoken.
