The BBK is the leading federal authority for national crisis management in Germany. Your tasks
The BBK's tasks include ensuring protection against chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear war threats (CBRN protection). Part of the civil protection equipment includes CBRN reconnaissance vehicles and CBRN measurement control components. They play an active role in these areas and develop them further. Both elements have special individual software, which is connected via a server. All the necessary components are currently being procured and will be delivered to the fire departments over the next few years.
- Infrastructure support - You will be responsible for the entire "CBRN exploration" infrastructure distributed across the mobile emergency vehicles, the VPN network and the servers (expansion, maintenance, optimization, monitoring and documentation). For procurements, you will create tailor-made information technology requirements and support the entire procurement process.
- Groundwork - As a subject matter expert, you work in a team to ensure that operational and tactical standards correspond to the current scientific and technical state of the art.
- Development and further development of the IT system - You will use your expertise to support externally contracted software development and carry out the acceptance process. In our in-house laboratories, you will test the IT applications in conjunction with CBRN measurement technology and develop them further as part of a team.
- Practical introduction - You will accompany the delivery and practical introduction of the deployment systems, focusing on the hardware and software components. Through training and exercises, you ensure that the systems can be used effectively and appropriately by the users.
- 1st and 2nd level support - You will be available to users on our hotline to analyze errors and solve problems, including complex ones.
Your profile
- You have successfully completed a university degree (Bachelor/Diploma FH) with a focus on information technology (e.g. computer science).
- You have already gained at least 3 years of relevant professional experience in an information technology field.
- It is also possible to apply if you do not have the required degree or have less professional experience, but could still perform the tasks mentioned. In this case, however, please note the information below*.
- You can independently design, prepare and implement project measures in an interdisciplinary environment.
- Ideally, you have knowledge and experience in one or more of the following technical areas
Operating systems: Windows, Linux
Client, server and network technologies
Administration of Active Directory and Windows Server
Firewall, VPN, BSI basic protection
Java applications, JavaFX
databases
- Ideally, you have already gained professional or voluntary experience in the field of civil protection and disaster control, e.g. by working in a fire department, aid organization or THW.
- Practical experience or previous knowledge of techniques and procedures used in CBRN protection (NBC protection) (e.g. measurement technology, protective equipment, decontamination) as well as a class B and, in the best case, class C driving license are advantageous.
- Very good oral and written German language skills (comparable to C2 according to CEFR) round off your profile.
- You work independently, are solution-oriented and can familiarize yourself well with complex issues.
- You enjoy working well in a team and have an appreciative communication style.
- Since our tasks are security-relevant and event-oriented, we absolutely require your willingness to undergo an extended security check and to participate in the BBK's crisis organization.
