AI/ML Software Engineer in BELGIUM

We’re seeking a talented AI/ML Software Engineer to work at our office in Diegem, near Brussels, Belgium.

Your initial mission will be to develop, implement, and maintain advanced machine learning models and algorithms to drive data analysis and predictive capabilities for the in-orbit early demonstration of the European RF Spectrum Monitoring System.

Tasks and activities

The scope of work will include:

• Develop, implement, and maintain advanced machine learning models and algorithms to drive data analysis and predictive capabilities within the organization.
• Work closely with data scientists to integrate machine learning models into data pipelines. Enhance data quality and structure to facilitate effective model training and validation.
• Utilize embedded software knowledge to optimize data collection and transmission in IoT devices and other hardware interfaces.
• Apply knowledge of SDR technologies to process and analyze radio frequency signals within the data engineering framework.
• Support space mission operations by developing and implementing data engineering solutions tailored to space-related data processing needs.

Skills and experience

The following skills and experience are mandatory:

• University Degree or equivalent in Computer science or a relevant field.
• Strong understanding of machine learning principles, algorithms, and frameworks.
• Proven experience in data science, including statistical analysis, data modelling, and machine learning.
• Knowledge of embedded software development and hardware-software integration.
• Familiarity with SDR technologies and their application in signal processing.
• Previous experience in space operations, preferably in data engineering or related fields.
• Experience with writing requirements, design documentation, and test documentation.
• Desire to work both autonomously and as part of a team, in an international multicultural environment.
• Solution oriented mindset, with a customer focused communication skill.
• Fluent in English, both written and spoken.

The following skills and experience would be highly desirable:

• Proficient in programming languages such as Python, Java, Scala, and SQL.
• Deep understanding of databases, both relational and NoSQL, including design, implementation, and optimization.
• Experience with big data technologies like Hadoop, Spark, and Hive.
• Familiarity with ETL tools such as Apache Nifi, Talend, and Apache Airflow.
• Strong understanding of distributed systems and fault tolerance.
• Knowledge of data warehousing solutions and data architecture.
• Ability to develop and maintain data pipelines for real-time and batch processing.
• Excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
• Strong collaboration and communication skills.
• Knowledge of space system engineering and design methodologies.
• Knowledge of industry standards ECSS.
